Title: GRRRrrr..........
Description: How annoying

Hilltop border collie - May 15, 2006 07:41 AM (GMT)
I really don't get it - why do some clubs just have no idea!!

Flash, my big baby is just 18 months so old enough to compete, he also happens to be the fastest dog in our club, and yet he has been put in a team with a very slow dog, to make it FAIR!!! How is that fair....

I was told 'its ok Flash can make up the time the other dog is losing' ggggggrrrrrrrrr

MadMerles - May 15, 2006 02:20 PM (GMT)
I love my club to bits but they do things like this too and it drives me mad... they give places to people on the teams who have been at the club longer even though there dogs are slower than mine or drop the ball on the return ALL the time! it drives me mad as my boy is almost as fast as there top team dogs already.

Hilltop border collie - May 15, 2006 02:25 PM (GMT)
I think a lot of it is favouritism! Some people get what they want when they want and everyone else just has to put up with it!

Cali - May 15, 2006 03:34 PM (GMT)
that is one of the reasons I quite my last club, they had 3 fast dogs and 1 slow dog on the super competitive team, they told me that Happy was on the slow team because no green dogs get put on the Storm team, shortly after they had ALL of THEIR extremly green dogs running on the storm team. they even made specical rules that pertained only to Happy, like she was not allowed in the dogbuilding unless during her own practice time, the rest of the time she must be kenneled in the van out of sight, because she gives the club a bad name! yikes because apperntly a dog that bit the flyball judge and snarles at everyone that so much as looks at her, and a dog that flips around lunging at all the other dogs, and a "trainer" who does not have a clue, has nothing to do with the clubs bad name!

the incident that lead to my leaving was at a tourny where Happy was lating between my feet, impressavly well mannerd being as what she used to be like, and a lab ran up to here throwing herself in Happys face, Happy turned her head to the side, snapped at the air, and the lab turned around and walked back to her owner. now the daughter of the nasty lady in the club had been in front of her with her back to me, she claimed she saw that whole thing(with what? the eyes on the back of her shines? ) she claimed that the lab was minding her buisness when Happy suddenly bit the lab so hard the lab screamed and ran to hid behind her owner.

I think this is awful. Why don't the people who're picking the teams, pick the best ones so they've got the best chance of winning? Can't understand that myself. wierdoo

ugh some people are sooo annoying, ggggggrrrrrrrrr lets start a new flyball club lol, the Border collie world club, yay mexicanwave

Hilltop border collie - May 16, 2006 10:37 AM (GMT)
Yeah i think ur right, would love to set up my own club, but don't wanna have stop competing for ages whilst getting other dogs trained up!

God im gunna scream headwallbash headwallbash headwallbash

I've just been told that now, in our second team, we're gunna have 3 - 4.5 second dogs and 3 - 6-7 second dogs and then rotate them so its fair

Hows that fair on my baby when he's so much faster...... crying

FlyDogz - May 21, 2006 09:55 PM (GMT)
Been there... done that.... etc!!!

One club I was with said that one of their 5.2 second dogs was far better than my 4.4 second dog..... I.ve now got my own team up and running!!!!!
Thank goodness!!!!

What would happen if you said somthing to the Captain/trainer or whoever sorts out teams???

To my mind, putting slow dogs with fast dogs is just point hunting, not racing to win - I thought flyball was about going as fast as you can????? Am I wrong here???

There is one club where favourites get priority over fast dogs, they all moan at me - as if I could do anything!!!! Not my club!!!!

Everyone who has a gripe with their club ......... this week go and stand up for your rights - you are a member of that team!!!!!!

Oooops I think I've just started a mutiny LOL

Cali - May 21, 2006 11:15 PM (GMT)
lol I agree. its not just favorite dogs though its favorite people too. I just know it alwasy drove me nuts that the club captain downright refused to replace HIS 6.0 second dog with MY 3.8 second dog on the fast team. nope he made my 3.8 second dog run with the 8 and up second dogs lol on the upside Happy being on that team put the slow team from last in the last divisions to me having to hold Happy back, because she was making us break into division 1 lol

I have said to the team captin, but that got me no where apart from an argument, then lots of bad feeling!

I was told i cannot have 2 of my dogs in the main team no matter how fast they are cos its not fair on other people - doesn't matter how fast they are!!

So now i have my baby flash in the main team as he's faster than breeze, and breeze has been demoted to the second team to run with Storm!

And poor sunny isn't doing it anymore cos she's not interested anymore, so i don't see the poinbt in her doing it if she doesn't want to - bless her she used to love it so much!

FlyDogz - May 22, 2006 06:17 PM (GMT)
AW!! Poor Sunny!!!!

Still you cant force them to do it!!!!

Cali - May 28, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
yikes, I heard a story about what Dyna(Happys mom) did at a recent tourny, apperntly Dyna looked at a dog onb the other team belonging to a deaf man, and as soon as she was let go she ran over to the dog, bit him, then turned around and bit the dogs owner! yikes of coarse the judge was the clubs captain, and Dynas owners son! he went over to say something to her, and she made some sort of snotty remark, of coarse her son did not write her up, if ANYBODY elses dog did that they would be banned! and this is the lady that made special rules for MY dog? Happy may have looked at the other dogs but she NEVER EVER crossed over, nor did she ever lay a tooth of another dog or person. another person left the club by the way lol Dynas owner made this other lady her target and she had enugh, she left and joined Kaos. chearleaders

I agree!!

Our club has been having this internal argument for months about whether we should have teams of different abilities (ie a "fast" team) in order to race to win our divisions or whether we should mix and match dogs of clearly different levels. Flyball is a race, so you think they'd want to be as quick as possible runningdog I also think that when fast dogs run with other fast dogs it gets them going a bit, and then they run even quicker!

Saying that, me and Muttlies6 managed to breakout this weekend (eeek!) wibblyeyes

(If anyone on this forum is from Rapidz please can you contact me pllllllease :-)

I 100% agree with this!!

I was saying the other day i don#'t run my oldest sunny anymore cos she seems bored of doing it, but last week, my breeze came into season so we were a dog short so i said id put sunny in - not expecting her to do it, but cos she was with faster dogs she ran exactly the same as she used to - she was fast again!

recently she's been running with a team that does 23-24 seconds and clearly she finds this boring where as with a faster team she was back to her normal self absolutly loving it!

Oh so your in the same team as Muttlies6 then!! Our team was at the same show as u last week - just on the sunday instead!!

Jetstream - June 2, 2006 08:55 AM (GMT)
Oooh Ryecroft? Nice show (my first proper non-starters), I liked that one a lot! Despite the break out!

We were at Eggborough on the Sunday, which was good too!

Yep, my lurcher is in a team with Carolyn's (well, Muttlies6's) Jess and hopefully in a few months we'll set Jet and Joe off in a starters team wink

Yeah Ryecroft is good, although the grass was a little long!! What time did you run to break out then?

It was the first show of the season so we had to send in our declared time, but at least we have a seed time now!

Well it was a bit of a mix-match team as a lot of our club members were camping in the Lake District so we hadn't run together very much! However our time was put in as 25secs I think and then we ran 22secs so were probably 2 divisions below what we should have been! They all ran fantastically though to say it was the first proper comp for Poppy and Jess.

Ah well done then, at least you have a seed time now makes thing easier!! Least you wont break out again!
