Title: Paddy's back!!

I've just returned from the vets - and it's very good news - in a weird way?

They didn't have to do the TPLO surgery.

While Pads was sedated they gave his legs a good ole tug around. and lots of X-rays, and it seems that Paddy had " Physiological Laxity Drawer Movement" in both his back legs - and this can be easily misdiagnosed as a cruciate tear.

He (the orthopaedic vet) told me that they have taken fluid samples from both knee and hip joints. He had stressed to me prior to the assessment that hip fluid is notoriously difficult to 'get to'.
However, he said that it had been very EASY to draw fluid from Paddy's right hip, and that the fluid looked too watery and blood tinged compared to normal fluid from other hip. This indicated that Pads hip is very swollen, and this means he has a "severely sprained hip joint" - At last I now have a diagnosis!!!

He also suggested that they "may" be an infection in the fluid - but the lab results will tell me that next week. If there is, he will have to anti-biotics for about 4 weeks.

So, Pads is now got to have Rimadyl for 10 days, to get the swelling down. And lead walking only - no running!!

I'm sooooooooo relieved!!!! He's very drowsy, and away with the fairies at the moment!
There's a ticket in him yet!!! Whoo-hoo!! ;o)) :D
