Title: Paddy got reserve Ticket!
hauntedpaws - July 14, 2008 01:11 PM (GMT)
*sad* *sad* At Winchester Champ show yesterday. After a 3 way run-off, if he'd have lost less than 1 on scent he would have won........I'm gutted, may not have the chance again with him.... *sad* I'm pleased with him but at the same time gutted - hope that makes sense? *wack*
Indy won another C on Saturday though! trophy1st

Well done.
I know what you mean about being gutted though as when you want something so badly and are so close......

Sorry to ask a stupid question but what's a ticket and a reserve ticket? I've read them before on here and never known!

A 'Ticket' is the shortened version of Championship 'C' (CC) class in Obedience. It's the highest class there is in obedience. It is limited to 60 dogs! yikes To compete in CC you must have won out of Novice, A, B & had a C win with 3 places no less than 3rd. A 'reserve Ticket' is basically 2nd place - but you get a stud book number etc - don't really understand why, you just do! lol
If you win a 'ticket' you are qualified to compete at the Obedience Championships at Crufts the following year (like my other dog Indy has). When you win 3 tickets, your dog becomes an 'Obedience Champion and has the letters OB CH before it's name. Paddy has never won a ticket before, and Indy has won 2. *blah*
Basically you competing against the best 60 dogs in the country every weekend! :D Sounds easy eh? *wack*
Hope this makes it a bit clearer?

Thanks Claire - that helps. I thought it was related to Crufts in some way but wasn't sure! THe whole world odog training /sports is so confusing - I'm just starting to get my head round some of the agility terms.
So how often do you enter obedience shows? Is it really every weekend?
SO it's likely that you will qualify for Crufts again with Indy isn't it?
Thanks for the info!!

Yes every weekend throughout the Summer - from Scotland to Sussex.....lots of diesel! bur2
Indy won a ticket in May, so he's already got his 'ticket' for Crufts next year. I would like another with Indy to make him into an Champion. But would have sooooooooo nice to win yesterday with Pads, so he could have joined Indy on the bench at Crufts! *sad*

Lucky that you have a diesel not a petrol!! Didn't realise that it literally was every weekend and so far and wide!
I can really understand why your gutted - will you get another chance to get the ticket with Paddy?
If I make it to Crufts next year will have to come and meet you!

Aw well done Claire but hard luck as well. I know exactly what you mean. You are kinda pleased that you were good enough for an RCC but just then have that if only.. then it could have been...
But if he's done it once, then there is no reason why he can't do it again!!! Jag won his RCC and then CC at the very next champ show!!!

Thanx Mand, that's encouraging.

Yes, next weekend - but finding a judge who likes his style of work is limited. Paddy is more 'on the leg' while Indy does his trotting like a dressage horse style. rolleyes* Depends on the judge.
