Title: Midshire Mudpack

BCBrie - October 23, 2008 10:42 AM (GMT)
Is anyone here on that team? Was wondering if you guys had any room for Brie. I think you guys are the next closest to us (first being the daventry team of course lol)

Hey mate, did you get hold of the Midshires lot? When we did a demo with them the other year it was Cath Locke who I spoke to and was organising it - can try to dig out her contact details if you still need them.

Big scratchies to Brie waggingd

Hope Brie enjoys flyball.

I have joined High Flyers, went to my first session last Saturday. I am currently going to train with Bailey my Lab to learn the ropes, as Tizzy isnt old enough yet.

Not sure how all this competition works as yet, and it may be a long time before or if we get into a team. But if we do, would be nice to meet another forum member.

Brie LOOOOOOVES flyball. In June, she would have been doing it for 4 years. Flyball is one of her favourite words.. after Food and Hungry of course.

It will be fun. Its up to the dogs really on how they feel like doing lol. I kow Brie has a VERY dirty habit of scaring us half to death in practice by running along side the jumps on the way back, but then doing the jumps perfectly when its time to race..lol. I swear she hates me..wants me to have a nervous break down haha.

As for meeting other forum members.. i guarantee you ive probably met or seen most of the people here, but didnt even know lol. well i know one for SURE.. because we were on a team together for what..2 years lol. (first competition was jan. 2006 and brie's last race was in feb. 2008..could make the other competitions and practice was just too far for my dad when getting back from work in the morning..now i can just walk to practice lol)

How old is Tizzy. You can actually practice the jumping early (for those about to say no, i dont mean heavy jumping.. i mean to get the command 'over' down lol) Id get Brie to jump over my foot (well she would walk over it lol) as she got older i moved higher up my leg..then 2 legs now me lying down lol. so her jumping over me is just making sure i keep up on "over"

Aw good to hear Brie is back enjoying what she loves doing. :D

You sound just as excited to be back doing flyball with Brie, as Brie herself is.

I must admit since having Bailey and with my daughter being old enough to be doing her own thing (17), I have tried to get more involved with doing something with my dogs.
Bailey, bless her is a bit of a plodder, learns and does things in her own time. She is ok at pet obedience and she does a bit of agility, but my fitness level lets both me and her down. Then we have Tizzy the Tornado (like chalk and cheese) she is like a sponge she could be good at obedience, but not sure if I can be disciplined enough to do the training, although I am trying. We like teaching her tricks and then find out the comand mucks up the next bit of obedience, oops (good job we havent got far yet)

Thought we would try flyball as it looked a bit easier for me, apart from running up and down the course a few times for training, but hey that should help me.
Must admit that impressions from my first session is that everyone was so friendly and relaxed. They had no problem if your dog was pulling and barking, to them that just showed your dog was enjoying themselves. They admitted that the comps were a good social event that they all enjoyed.

Me getting carried away now, Tizzy is nearly 6 months. She does a bit of agility, (jumps are two inches max) so she knows 'over'. I have been asked to watch Tizzy when chasing a ball to see if she is left or right pawed, they will then give me some advise on ways to help her turns.

Cant wait to go back, even Bailey in her laid back way enjoyed it.

oh deffo happy to be back to it. i dont think brie has noticed it yet though as we only went to try out and see how she got along with the other dogs..which obviously went well lol..so it was the one time. hopefully the practices start up again soon
as for agility. i could never do it. brie would run circles around me lol

ooh.. just realised something.. when is tizzys birthday? would be funny if it was the same as brie's lol. bries is 10 july

walliecollie - January 14, 2009 09:59 AM (GMT)
lol, know what you mean about agility. Tizzy would run rings round me too. and as she is small, she will only be the size of a sheltie at a guess, she dashes about and i loose or trip over her. lol

Tizzy is registered as Jul 20, but as she was a rescue we dont know the exact ate. They said she was 9 weeks so we worked it back to 9 weeks from the day we picked her up, so she could be a bit earlier., we will never know. I think she may be a week earlier.
she has just lost the last of her puppy teeth, the big long pointy ones, I never remember the proper name lol. I think the average age for loosing all their teeth is between 4-6 months, so I think this is about right.

BCBrie - January 14, 2009 01:27 PM (GMT)
i think brie was a late bloomer with the teeth. (you mean the canines?.. the 4 big pointy ones) i think she started loosing hers about 8 months, but she got through it quite quickly (she liked whole apples then lol)

dunno what to compare her to for how big she is lol.. im 5 feet tall.. (she is 19inches at the shoulder)

Brie is a lovely looking little girl, nice size at 19ins, I think that is what Bailey my Lab is, but she is short and dumpy lol.
Tizzy atm is nearly 14ins, but she is thin and whippity so she looks smaller. Will be interesting to see how big she gets full grown. We think she is 3/4 collie so hopefully will get bigger, but probably not as tall as Brie.

Love the last picture, Brie has one of those happy smiley faces.
