Morning all

Do you give your dogs bones ? and if yes what ones do you give them.

Hi, mine have bones.

As I feed BARF they have chicken wings and Rib bones as a meal. These are soft bones and get crunched up quite easy.

They also have knuckle bones as a recreational bone at w/e as it keeps them amused for longer. But only if the weather is good to go outside.

Millie hasnt had a bone yet (shes 9 months now) so i was thinking of getting her a knuckle - i would only give her bones if we were around to keep an eye on her - I did used to buy them for jess, she loved a good old noor in the garden on a nice day.

Shes not to young for a bone is she?

See now i will worry that she will bite off and swallow more that she should!!! - maybe I will sick to the rawhide chews for a while nailbiting

all mine have butchers bones and Tinka has had 2 bones a week since she was 4 months old!
she finishes the ribs and such off without a problem but in the summer i was having to throw the big ones away after a few days (wont keep them for longer than that)

Rawhide's can also cause problems if your dog does not chew them properly, as they do not digest in the stomach. I have had to stop Bailey eating them, or at least take them away before she gets to the end, as she has a tendancy to chew the last bit till it is all white and goey (about the size of 5 pound note) and then swallow it whole.
Dont want you to panic, just be aware. We still let Bailey have them, but we know when to take it away. The same would be true of bones.

We feed bones too - get a bag of fresh rib ones each week from the butcher (£1 for a carrier bag full - cheaper than pet shop ones).

They are frozen and given to the dogs every other day and they love them.

Never had any problems with Rib bones but my two can't cope with marrowbone, seems to go straight through them and comes out a bit messy the other end lol.
