Title: Question?
bonniebag - January 17, 2009 05:40 PM (GMT)
I am going to take ben to agility after he has mastered basic obedience. i would love to compete in compitions with him if he becomes good enough but someone told me yesterday that because he was a rescue from the SSPCA i wouldnt be able to do compitions and also he has to be registered...
Is this true and if so why and how can i register him

Dont be put off because he is a rescue loads of rescues do really well and you can even join the rescue dog agility league when you start competing which is good fun as you can see how your dog does compared to all the other rescues.

all of my dogs are rescue, they either train in agility or obedience depending on the dog.
they are registered on the activity register (really easy to do and only £12) but you only need to get that done if you want to compete. if you want to do it for fun then just go along and enjoy - of course when you get bitten by the agility bug you can register at a later date :D

Have you found a club to start your training with?? If so asking them what they normal advise.
Plus your dog has to be one to start agility training.
There is a huge list of clubs on www.agilitynet.co.uk or most probably on the kennel club website to.
If you advise where you live then prehaps someone may be able to recommend somewhere for you to go.
Hope this helps.
