Saffy is a 10 year old Border Collie cross - but to look at her, youd think she was a German shepherd puppy! She is a charming little dog, small for a collie, with a lovely soft coat, and a bobbed tail (her tail was amputated some years ago because she had a suspect lump on it, and the vet thought it was best to remove the whole thing).

Saffy is great with children, and loves the company of other dogs. She is a playful girl who would probably enjoy the company of a younger dog, and is particularly fond of spaniels! She loves a cuddle or a tummyrub and generally walks well on the lead. She would probably be a little too bouncy to live with a much older or frailer dog. At the moment she isnt keen on going into water deeper than her toes, so she tends to stay relatively nice and clean on walks which has to be good news!
Photos of Saffy tend to end up making her look rather like a German Shepherd or Belgian Shepherd: in this photo you can see her with a GSD friend, and see how tiny she is by comparison:

Saffy is currently staying in a home with cats. At the moment they are still rather new to her, and she is a little scared of them: sometimes she ignores them, sometimes she tries to get them to go away by barking or lunging, and sometimes she tries doggy play tactics that cats dont understand. She is coming on really well though, and should be able to live with a confident cat if appropriately introduced.
Saffy came into the care of the Oldies Club because her owner had a change of circumstances which ended up with her being left alone for up to 10 hours a day. Sadly, it seems that this has left its mark on Saffy: she gets seriously stressed when left for even a few hours, barking, crying and suffering from stress-related colitis. Because of this, Saffy needs a new home where her family will be around her most of the time: ideally, someone who can continue to help her work through this problem.

Her new owners will also need to be careful about her diet and understand that she may be stressed by new experiences. Her new family will also need to be prepared to give her the regular grooming that her lovely soft coat needs.

Saffy can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet her.
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances arent suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
