Do you know:-

How tall a weave is
What the distance is between weaves
Whats the norm 6 or 12 ?

aim for about waist height but the general consensus is taller than your dog, jackies are set at 22" apart. i have 12 but i mix it up - sometimes 6 sometimes 8 but mostly 12.

i cheated and brought electric fence poles. light weight enough to bung in the car for a quick practice of different terrain.

u can get 6 weaves on ebay quite cheap with webbin spacers

if you practice on 6 and are faced with 12 they will generally pop out at 6. when i was a begginer i fell in that trap.

i taught rodders on 6 at home but training has 12 i cud practise on, 6 is ok to use at home and get teachin the dog!

*thumb* Thanks for the info guys - I have ordered 6 off e bay (Cheers Lou) works out cheaper than making them lol, and im not that good at DIY I would end up with brooms and mops stuck in the lawn :P - I will see how we get on I can always add to them cant I beersmilie

Good luck. I just started off with 6 pvc poles, they are only good as training as now my girl is way to fast and they get knocked all over the place. If you do train weave poles though do train using the 2x2 method. If you want a dog that will never miss an entry, even an extreme one and will always stay in the poles then 2x2's are the way to go!

here here on the 2x2 just used this to teach my pup and she has entries to die for. Just on the 6 at the building and are now starting to introduce the second set of 6 to make 12.
