Just wanted to up date on Meg, we had our follow up appt on Thurs.

In Megs left hip the dysplacia is decscribed as moderate, her right hip is mild. Our vet as persudaed / pushed me into a referal with on orthpediac vet (Grham Oliver), for a second opinion. My vet seems to think hip transplant is the best option, but I,m not so sure at this stage, but I will at least go and talk to him and then will have to weigh up all the options. My vet says have the sugery done now before arthuritus (sp) sets in , then she can lead a normal life, but my concersns are what if the transplant is rejected as this is sometimes the case, then there is the after care, apparently 2 weeks total rest, then gradual exercise build up.
Has anyone ever had to total rest their collies for that length of time, I suppose she would have to be crated, as she would not be allowed to do anything.
I am hoping that the specialist will give us a not quite so a depressing picture when we see him and perhaps have alternitives to consider.
