hi i wondered if anyone can help i have a female border collie and recently i have noticed she has been having trouble getting up and down sofas, beds and stairs etc... she drags her back legs but she is fine walking running chasin playing. she has seen my vet and has said he wont put her on any meds as she is still doing normal things and she is only just over 3, how would i know if she as in pain?
thankyou for reading my thread and thanks for any advice anyone can give me
I think if she were mine i would get another vet to check her over. I agree that theres no point in giving her medication just for the sake of it, but you know her, and if you dont think shes right then take her somewhere else just for another check up
I had this with Indy over Xmas, get her back checked at a chiropractor before you even think about meds. She may have pulled her muscle/twisted her back etc. Sounds like the same as Indy, he had to go to chiro, and back massages twice a week, and lead walk only - preferably on a harness for about 5-6 weeks!!
He's fine now btw.
Just a thought..........?
my first thought was McTimoney too. i always get mine checked out first before i think of going to the vet. meds can mask a problem but will rarely fix it.
