Lots of reports,on certain tv chanels and from vets, that after 3 years old you are wasting your money with boosters.whatever people say i always had jasper done yearly (rip) and i will with sky.i am being sent info from a vet regarding this issue and that its a waste of money as the dogs immune system will be strong enough after 3 years.the person who put me on to this shows her dogs so they have to be up to date,as the case if you kennel your dogs, esp kennel cough etc which i dont do as we never kennel the mutt.DISCUSS!! *speak*

I've heard about this too. In fact, I have heard reports that yearly boosters can actually be harmful to dogs. Obviously, it is the vaccine manufacturers who want to make their money and have the vets trained to tell everyone that the dogs need these vaccines every year their whole life.
I think it is something that needs looking more into instead of everyone just believing the manufacturers and insisting dogs be up to date with boosters if they don't need to be done that often.
A vet told my dad some years ago that after several years, dogs don't really need boosters anymore. I've read in other places that one booster every three years is suffice.

so ive been told, although its miles away, north america is going to stop boosters as its pumping the dog full of toxic chemicals that are not needed.

Morning all - Our vet only inoculate (sorry for my spelling) for certain things on the booster, they dont have to have the whole set again every year, i think this year (Millies 1st booster) she had it for 3 things (3 or 4 anyway). I always ask whats in the booster this year (when i had my Jess)
I know of people who show their dogs (Not BC's)and have NEVER had even the 1st course of injections (the puppy ones) and these dogs are KC reg and go to shows all over the UK and abroad with the pet passport. My vet said to me that if you ever see a puppy with Parvo, then you wouldnt think twice, you would make sure that your injections are up to date. A lot of people say that Parvo has died out and no longer in the UK and I know that there were 2 cases in Essex in April, they even printed in the local paper how important boosters where are they were worried about the it spreading. It comes down to trusting your vets also, I always try and see the same Vet, she loves Millie and talks to you and makes sure your happy before she does anything. So for me, its boosters once a year.
Good post - looking forward to reading more replys

Intresting reply jo,im the same,as with my other dog and the new one will be once a year whatever.i read in the paper (no not the sun) that vets are worried abt the spread of disease as people are not getting boosters due to the credit crunch.why dodge something that could cost you dear in the future, either a big bill or your dogs life!
