Title: Dusty The Pup Lurcher x Collie

mikayla - July 1, 2009 01:58 PM (GMT)
Dusty was a stray that was found hungry, thin and very dirty on a mountain and rescued by a lovely man. She is a Lurcher x Collie and is about 4 months old. She is white with tan and a lovely leggy girl. She gets on with everyone and everything but is being fed in a crate because she can be food protective due to being so underfed.

She has had her first vac and is being spayed today. She has been wormed. flea treated and microchiped and has been fitted with a D.A.P. collar. She will come with 4 weeks free insurance She will need too attend training classes in her new home and woulld need someone at home most of the time to help her learn.

Recently the founder of the FOTA RCT attended seminars with regard to early neutering. Afer weighing up all that pros and cons she has decided that the rescue will,in the main, follow the early neutering path.

^ yeah i know someone who attended that same seminar :( the RSPCA in their 'wisdom' are neutering as young as 6 weeks.

the wrong way to go imo. pretty pup though.

update on Dusty

Dusty has travelled to her new foster home in Derby. She was so quiet in the crate.

She goes to the vet on Friday to have her second vaccs and her stitches out. She is a very typical pup, all action and then sleeping. She seems to enjoy being with people and also Coady. She offers beautiful "sits" and is well on the way to being housetrained. A bit fast and furious around eating her meals (which she eats outside her crate) and snatchy around treats but we are working on this and she is learning fast. She is gorgeous

update from foster mum

Dusty has been to the vet to have her second vacc and stitches removed. The vet commented on how good natured she was. She is a little underweight so needs feeding up, which she is very happy to help with. She eats in the kitchen with Coady and tends to inhale rather than chew so we put a ball in her bowl which slows her down a little. She will sit for a treat but can forget herself and snatch, but we are working on this. House training is coming along but she is still young. She is friendly and approachable with visitors and loves to sit on your lap for a cuddle. A lovely typical lively pup. Can't wait to have her out and about on lead.
