Good evening,
Poor ellie has had a bit of an upset stomach since last night. A lovely case of the runs and some presents left for me this morning.
She has eaten a little bit today, so when i got my dinner i decided to give her a jumbone as i know she loves them. She gobbled it down quite happily.. but about 5 minutes later she started coughin like she wanted to be sick.
When i thought she was going to be sick, all that came out was liquid... id probably describe it best as like human spit... sorry for the poor wording.
She seems ok in herself and we have ben out playing today but im worried about her. Is it just an upset tummy or is it something more sinister.
Dogs can get upset stomachs just like us. Throwing up bile on it's own, which looks like spit and is often yellow in colour, is common when a dog is hungry for too long and the stomach becomes irritated.
Dogs vomit very easily as a safety mechanism to expel dangerous things they might consume...being omnivores who take advantage of most things by nature, they are more likely to accidentally eat something that their stomach does not like.
So long as they are ok otherwise, it's usually not something to worry about.
If she seems ill in some other way or the sickness lasts longer than a day or two, a visit to the vets might be in order but I wouldn't worry too much otherwise.
She might have just had a doggy stomach bug similar to the types humans get. I know our vets have mentioned getting more dogs in with stomach bugs when there are humans ones going around...seems some can catch them from their human family members.
Or she could just have eaten something that didn't agree with her.
