Title: Chiropractor
Mistymilo - August 25, 2009 07:17 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know of a chiropractor that will treat your dogs without having a veterinary referal?
Amber has gone lame, ive rested her but no success. She has been to the vets and had xrays taken but they said they cant find anything wrong with her.
My last call is a chiropractor!
Does anyone have any advice that may be helpful?
Thank you :)

Any good chiro would want a referral from your vet anyway - I think they have to legally.

I know of one who does ours but they are quite far up north from you

I guess I will just have to pester my vet a bit more and get them to allow my dogs to see a chiropractor

Does your vet have a reason for not wanting your dogs to go? Is strange as "most" vets seem to be happy with trying alternative treatments. I think it would be unfair of them to not refer you.

My vets are very old fashioned and would rather try all their methods before trying an alternative method. So far they are costing me a bomb and have no idea why she is lame. All they have told me now is to rest her only giving her 5 mins of exercise a day and to put her on metacam which im not really happy about.

Mine go to a McTimoney practice too. She just wanted a vet's address to ring if there was a problem. But when Paddy had X-Rays taken, my chiro wanted to see the x-rays but they wouldn't release them to her... rolleyes*
She's very good. I would just go anyway, sod the vets. It's your dog and your money at the end of the day!
Where are u looking (which area?)

That's very sad that they are not open to alternatives. Not sure I can help as I am way to for South East and the guy mine have seen did want the vets say so but it was literally a word of mouth.
I hope you get it sorted.
