Hi, i was wondering what i could feed my border collie MOLLY to increase her weight as i feel she really needs to put on a few pounds, at the minute im feeding her on a premium tesco dog food which she picks at but dosent exactly seem to enjoy! I have tried lots of other different varieties, wagg, bakers etc but shes the same with them, i just want something which she will enjoy eating and put weight on her, she is eighteen months old. Also what age do bc stop growing? thanks Kellymarie runningdog

the tesco premium is just as awful as the bakers, wagg is the cleanest you will get on a budget. my mother feeds that tesco stuff and her dogs are in awful condition.

go by feel, can you feel ribs without digging in but with gentle pressure?

mine are fed raw and when i want to add weight i feed more lamb. having said that slowly but surely i increased weight in abuse cases using just JWB - the blue one. its been a long time but i think its called white fish and potato?

*just a small note to add those in a very poor condition were fed chappie tinned for the first few days*

what about some piccies? its hard to talk about weight/size. ok there are ideal weights but no such thing as a 'border collie' weight as they all differ so much, i've seen shelties bigger than my BC.

I agree with what Gemma has said.

Has she been wormed recently?

Teagan lost a bit of weight last winter, she wasn't due to be wormed, but I wormed her again and gave her 3 meals a day (mine normally get 2) for a couple of weeks and she started to put the weight back on. More smaller meals put weight on more than 1 big meal.

Hi, I had a problem with one of my dogs gaining weight. I changed his food to CSJ 'That'll Do' and he is now his correct weight. He will never be a fat dog but at least now you cant see his ribs!! Some dogs are just naturally lean.

CSJ do 3 ranges of food at different prices, but even the cheapest range is good and I know a collie rescue that uses it for their dogs. The food isnt available in shop but they have lots of suppliers around the country.

Take a look at their website

Hope this is helpful.
