Suicidalspd99 - July 1, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
Yeah, when you find a good paint job for less then 1k let me know.
cdg2125 - July 1, 2007 10:46 PM (GMT)
well how much are we talking for just a repaint? not changing color or anything. I've read plenty of stuff about shops at $1500 for a job but not around here.
Suicidalspd99 - July 2, 2007 04:14 PM (GMT)
1500 to 2000 is typical. but not 1000 by any chance.

I can maybe see $1500 but I'd look more towards $1800 or so from a reputable shop.

Where in ct are you? I think theres a few guys over on massdriven that can paint not sure how much they would do it for but it might be worth a shot posting over there....

I just saw your thread on the big org. Why don't you try doing this... Pick up the parts new however you want.
I recommend going down to a body shop and asking them to order them from a company called Veng/Cap or something like that. I have used them before on another car and have a front bumper on mine from them now and it fits perfect.
After you get the parts talk to a body shop and ask how much it would cost for them to paint them. If it is too much ask if they will let you prep them yourself and then they paint them. Prepping new panels is not much work it is pretty much scuffing them just enough until there is no shine left.
After they are painted put them on. You should be able to save a lot of money that way. If you want to afterwards just completely detail the car and it should flow pretty good.

Well the main body isn't bad. The parts I posted on the big org was to try to go other directions as well. I will not be able to afford $1800 for a long time. By that time I won't be keeping the car ha. I don't make enough with school, and bills and all to throw down that kind of money for a paint job. The hood, fenders, bumpers, and trunk are what have issues at this point. Rust spot on the trunk getting worse all the time, fenders are messed up, and bumpers have spots from my people scratching the car. I figured if I bought pieces I could paint them myself and get them on. Saves me money and I don't think they would be that much different then the rest of the car. I don't know tho.

Well why not just buy some old parts and start practicing painting them before you try to paint stuff that will actually get used? I would buy the parts new scuff them and let someone paint them. The KH3 isn't really a special color so it shouldn't cost much for a place to spray them. If you bought the parts through a place and had them paint them I would guess you should come out under a G and more like $800.
Now you could also repaint what you have but I wouldn't bother with the bumpers. I would buy them anyway because odds are they have some pits in them and probably won't come out perfect. If you did this you could reuse your fenders depending on the condition and the trunk depending on the severity of the rust.
I personally would get new parts.

Well as I said in the big org. I can get all the parts on ebay for about $350, primed and ready to be painted. I've done some painting but not a lot. I think I could pull off the job. I don't really know for sure. What are the thoughts about the different colors? Will the new pieces be much more noticeable?

I say save up for your next car.

It depends on how much wear the parts have. They shouldn't have that much on them so a complete exterior detail should do the trick.

just get a $300-500 paint job and prep the car your self it should come out fine
cdg2125 - July 4, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
I don't have time to prep the car myself. By that time it'll be snowing again. Obviously there really isn't much I can do with this unless I dish out a lot of money. I'm really in the mind set to stop modding the car now. It's just a waste to spend money and spend so much time on it when I'm just always upset with the appearance. Even when I spend hours detailing it still just doesn't look good because of those areas. I guess it might be time to stop putting money into it. Thanks for the help guys.

That's a wise decision and I feel the same way. I might return my car back to stock. Everyday I look at my car and think it's rice. Like some 13 year old kid drives it who thinks he's the fast and the furious.

I'm itchin' to pay off my loan!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cdg2125 - July 5, 2007 06:52 PM (GMT)
well I wish I could get some $$ for my car. I want an 02-03 max and there are some real nice ones on the org but I'm not sure I can sell mine off with the mods it has. I would need to take a loan from the bank as well. I don't know. Tough decisions.
Zach95SE - July 6, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
If you can afford to get a loan and make payments you can afford to fix what you have and still save money while not making payments.
cdg2125 - July 6, 2007 04:33 AM (GMT)
yeah but it's not about paying off what I have really. The max won't last too long. I take care of it but it's not going to last too much longer. I'd almost rather go ahead and jump on a newer max to have for the future. It won't happen for a while but those thoughts are enough to stop putting money into this car and save it for the next car.
Black Maxima - July 6, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
Keep a car stock and you won't have to fix things/repair it.
cdg2125 - July 6, 2007 04:41 PM (GMT)
yeah the 03 would be basically some exterior mods and audio. That would be about it. Nothing much to have to custom work. I'm going to start looking around. The question is how much I can get for my max....any thoughts?
Black Maxima - July 6, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
cdg2125 - July 6, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
That's what I was going for. I have to figure out what to do with my mods tho. A lot of stuff with the headlights and wiring and all were custom. The 00vi, muffler, all that stuff. I have to figure out if I have to change it back to sell. Not sure if any of the big.org guys will want it.
SUNTEN1 - July 9, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
Swap out the 00vi with my car.......you can have my stock intake mani
cdg2125 - July 9, 2007 04:19 AM (GMT)
I have the stock parts still. I am probably going to swap it out so if you're interested I'll sell you everything.
Zach95SE - July 9, 2007 12:47 PM (GMT)
How much would you be selling it for?
cdg2125 - July 9, 2007 03:21 PM (GMT)
well it cost me about $600 for everything. I wouldn't sell it for that since guys sell it for much cheaper on the org so I havn't thought of a price. It also depends what people want. I don't have the 5th gen LIM/Injector setup. I have the drilled 4th gen LIM so people may only want certain parts. Then I have to sell them for a little more because the other parts will go to waste. If people are interested I'll list everything in the setup with prices.
