Title: Hid Kits

I've got some new headlights on the way and I'm planning on picking up a 35w 6k kit. I've been talking with 2 different vendors who have 2 different opinions on what I need/don't need.

One guy is telling me I don't need relays, other is telling me I do. So what's the deal?

The stock H4 halogen bulb is rated at 55w for low beam, 60w for high beam. So I would assume that a 35w draw wouldn't need a relay.

Your not gonna need a relay. The only way you'd usualy run into an issue is if u have auto on headlights cause sometimes the passager side ballast won't get ebougph power to turn on cause it's fearther away from the battery than the driver side ballast. So if u don't have auto lights you shouldent need a relay as far as what ik from what I've been told..:

I do have auto lights, but I never leave it set to "auto". So if I have the switch set to "On", as I usually do, would this still be a potential problem for the passenger side?

It shouldn't be as long as your manually turn them one. But I'm not a mechanic just so uk, lol; just wanted to put that out there.

I would say from what i've heard and read you should be fine as long as you don't use your auto lights. If not you can always return the ballast in some cases and then put the relay in. How much does the relay cost?

The 2 sellers have the kits priced at $85 shipped for 50w bulbs, slim 35w digital ballast...other seller is $130 for 35w bulbs, 35w non-slim digital ballast, and relay (pre-wired for plug n play install)

That seems like a big price difference considering what each seller includes. Most likely you usually u get what u pay for and the fact that the $65 seller definitively claims that there is no need for a relay sounds shiesty to me. Not sure which I'm gonna go with yet.

I have HID fogs and low beams. I have auto on headlights. No relay installed and no issues.

I have a 2000 max and the passanger side do chip out for the headlights and for the fogs they work perfect with one side connection for bought hid ballast i would think the more the ballast cost the better it is
