Title: Rat Ba$tard Bolt On Idler Pulley...
mannetti21 - May 18, 2009 06:05 PM (GMT)
In the process of doing my alternator now, shroud is removed, splash guard removed, AC compressor bolts loosened but I'm stuck on the 14mm bolt on the idler puller.
It's not budging at all. Only enough room for a regular wrench. I hammered it pretty well, drenched it in WD-40, and spent a half hour trying but its not moving. The bolt is starting to get slightly rounded and I can feel an "oh sh1t" moment in the making. Getting real pissed so I figured I'd come inside and take a break. Anyone have any suggestions?

i would use liquid wrench it seems to work a lil better then WD-40

Used my jack handle as a breaker bar....a breaker bar for a brass nut on a pulley lol Gotta get a new nut to put back on though
Not to mention a new drive belt tensioner since the bolt snapped when I tried to loosen it. Note to self, Liquid Wrench EVERYTHING before even touching a ratchet

The alternator crapped out at my apt, car wouldn't stay running for more than 3sec....you gonna make the hour trip to Vernon? lol
Anyways, install wasn't really that bad. If that bolt didn't f*ck with me, and the tensioner didn't snap, I would have been done in like 2hours.
