has anybody ever gutted a pre cat before ??? if so how hard is it to do

I gutted the cat on my truck. It started falling apart inside and clogged up and left me no choice but to take it out and bash it out. The pre-cats and the max are to hard to reach with the usual bashing devices. It's easier to just get a Y-pipe off ebay and replace the whole thing.
