Thanks SMax, but I'm definitely a Mobil 1 guy. I'd really like to get the power flush like they do at Valvoline Oil Change but with the M1 synth. Is the Nissan ATF synthetic?

im not totally sure but its the Type K fluid

You should go with a regular trans fluid. Depending on your miles it might not be wise to go with syn. You can use nissan matic fluid. I recommend going to Superior trans on wolcott rd. in waterbury across from Family ford.

My Max has 79k. Would the trans be more likely to leak with the synth ATF?

No it will not leak with syn. oil. The only way it would leak is if a gasket or something was leaking. But it will not leak beacuse of the fluid. I still would use factory fluid.

whats your mileage situation, becuase in some instances flushing your tranny fluid is a bad idea, the metal shavings that are in it acctually help your tranny function and when you do the flush you may have some seriuos problems afterwards.

He is not bad on miles. though I would find out when the trans. was serviced last. This is a tochy subject about flushing and not. It can harm but you should be fine. As long as the fluid was chenged at one point in the cars life.
