03on18s - March 13, 2006 10:25 PM (GMT)
all right, i REALLY want to get my timing advanced, but i can't find anyone/anywhere to get it done. does anyone on the board have a consult-ii tool? db motorsports won't do it. any other shops around here that will do it? appreciate the help!

Suicidalspd99 - March 14, 2006 12:08 AM (GMT)
Damn man. Sorry to hear that. I don't understand why. I don;t have one but I am sure we can research it.

03on18s - March 14, 2006 11:45 PM (GMT)
hey bill, i got step by step directions on EXACTLY how to do the advance. any chance you can get access to a CONSULT-II tool to use for 10 mins?

mannetti21 - April 23, 2009 03:53 PM (GMT)
bumping this because I'm also looking to get it done...

I know there was a thread somewhere on here that had something planned back in March but I think it fell through.

I also want it done, I just haven't called the dealer to see if they would do it. I'm afraid they wouldn't offer that service.

kendal_jones101 - April 24, 2009 12:09 AM (GMT)
pm rollinmax he might be able to do it

rollinmax - April 24, 2009 02:19 AM (GMT)
yea go figure the dealer bashing crew here might actually need something only the dealer can offer.

Black Maxima - April 24, 2009 04:06 AM (GMT)
I've never bashed the dealer, I actually bought some parts from Harte Infiniti today.

Suicidalspd99 - April 24, 2009 04:32 AM (GMT)
I am working on getting something to do the advance. Dealer will probally run about 60 though. Should be no more than that.

KJS2023 - April 25, 2009 05:14 AM (GMT)
so what would that do for performance?

Ive been wanting this for a min now but hard 2 find someone 2 do it so this would be nice...heard there is no true hp gain but dramatically improves throttle response and gas mileage is improved

KJS2023 - April 25, 2009 02:55 PM (GMT)
im down to save some money on gas so when u say it improves throttle response will my gas peddle be alot more sensitive?

mannetti21 - April 25, 2009 04:44 PM (GMT)
a few have mentioned about 3hp/degree, but who knows. Nobody complains about the improved throttle response and mileage, so it sounds like it would be worthwhile.

KJS2023 - April 25, 2009 06:13 PM (GMT)
im down do u know the cost of the machine to do it might be worth buying it

The Consult II tool? Supposedly it isn't supposed to be sold to the public...regardless, I've seen it on Ebay ranging from $2,000 - $4,000.

KJS2023 - April 25, 2009 07:37 PM (GMT)
ohhh well then I guess we need to just find someone that can do it for us maybe get a group deal if enough of us go.

mannetti21 - April 25, 2009 10:37 PM (GMT)
Agreed, that would be sweet. Bill said he's working on something so until then keep asking dealers and keep your fingers crossed. If you do happen to find a dealer/tech to do it, get his name and number and let him know he can make some quick cash lol

KJS2023 - April 26, 2009 06:03 PM (GMT)
03on18s can you post up the instructions I want to show them to someone I know who happened to work in a Nissan dealership and has lots of friends there.... maybe he can pull some strings for us. I haven't talked to him yet but I would must rather be able to show him exactly what we need done.

mannetti21 - April 26, 2009 09:51 PM (GMT)
Here are the steps on the Consult II:

Warm up vehicle.
On CONSULT 2 screen choose ENGINE
After communication with Convertor will display a bunch of choices.
Press WORK SUPPORT
See more choices, press TARGET IGN TIMING
Press UP x2 for 2 degrees, correction which you should be able to see.
Press UPDATE.
Now press BACK
On the menu screen find IDLE AIR VOL LEARN.
Press, and perform to correct your idle since you just raised it 75rpm with timing advance.

By the way, what temp is that in your headlights? 8k, 10k?

not burting anyone's bubble, but this only works for 5th gens and once you do it you need to use 93 gas only (well, if you dont use it already, shame on you)

Black Maxima - April 27, 2009 02:44 AM (GMT)
5th Generation with a 3.5, correct?

KJS2023 - April 27, 2009 03:25 AM (GMT)
wait so I cant do it then? Is there any way my 4th gens timings can be changed?

I know those are the correct steps for the 5th gen 3.0, I'm assuming its the same for 5.5gen. No clue if that works for the 4th gen but I would think that it would be the same since its the 3.0 engine.

And yes, 93 is pretty much a must or you're likely going to get knocking.

KJS2023 - April 27, 2009 06:42 AM (GMT)
oh ok thanks i guess ill have to do a lil research on it then. I gotta say I wouldn't mind the 93 only I really only put that in now unless I'm out of gas and they only have 91
