Hey guys, my greddy muffler doesnt pass inspection for some 14-80b law. Long story short is that I need to have a new muffler on before the end of January. If anyone knows anyone or has a 00+ muffler please let me know. Thanks a lot guys.

You automatically fail inspection with a muffler that is not stock. You don't have to get a 5th gen muffler. Just get one that looks stock. I think you would be ok with flowmaster or Cattman too.

What state are you in. I passed just fine with my 4th gen and I had aftermarket exhaust?

I think he is in CT but I failed automatically with my SP2. They just looked at it and failed me because they knew it was aftermarket and said that aftermarket exhausts are illegal. I dunno I didn't change anything and I have been fine.

Zach is right. Any aftermarket muffler is illegal. If it looks stock its ok cause they won't really know. I want a 5th gen muffler tho. Nobody has anything?

Yeah Sunny you will pass emissions but you won't pass inspection. Inspection is also not required unless you get a ticket and are told to go there or I believe if you register an out of state car or if you are trying to register a previously salvaged car or something.

DMV regulations require an inspection of the following vehicle types before registration: Gray Market Vehicles; Taxi; Ambulance; Camp; Homemade Trailers; Composite or Salvaged Motor Vehicles; Non Commercial trailers over 10,000 lbs. GVWR; Service Buses; School Buses; Student Transportation Vehicles (STV); Driving School Vehicles; Commercial Motor Vehicles and Commercial Trailers (including Commercial Vehicles seeking a temporary registration).

No no. Got a warning ticket for the muffler being loud so I went to get it signed off and I was told the muffler was illegal. You'll fail inspections, that's all I know. Thinking of finding a g35 muffler as well.

Same thing happened to me. I passed inspection, I also had a window tint inspection at the same time...

Where did you go to? The cop that looked at my car at the DMV was real nice about the whole thing but still wouldnt pass me.

I also asked the guy if he could pass my tints and he said no. I wanted my name written on the wall because he said I had the darkest tints he's ever seen.

What DMV is in New Britain? Do you mean the Wethersfield one?

Nah there is one in NB. It's on West Main St (I think thats the name) up behind Shaws. The Wethersfield DMV is the one I go to and they were too serious for me.

Still looking guys. How come car-parts doesnt carry mufflers? I know the junkyard in Hartford is going to have expensive mufflers.

I believe junkyards aren't allowed to sell anything to do with exhausts and maybe any emissions related stuff also. But try to call a couple up because some will still sell them.

i would say try to get threw with a cattman rear section... it looks stock and i have one that is sittin in my room

I dont have the money for the cattman. If it would pass I'd love to have it. But I can't pay over $100 since I need it installed too. I really need something quickly. Need some help.

I would just call up some auto part stores and see what they have. Then just put the Greddy back on it isn't hard.

Yeah it is. It's not bolt up. So everything is custom piped.

What's not bolt up? So you have yours all welded together? In that case good luck.

Hey man. Cut the greddy off about 6" back. Bolt a stock looking muffler for temp. use. Then weld up the greddy back up. Simple as that.

I appreciate all the help guys. I got a 2001 muffler off ebay (only place I could find one for cheaper as of now). Installing it tomorrow and then the DMV. I lost the ticket so I hope things will go smooth haha.
