Title: CM appearance as Gene in "WHAS"
LadyLapis - March 7, 2007 10:27 PM (GMT)
One of the first things I watched after I became Meloni-obsessed was "Wet Hot Amer. Summer" and I loved Gene & Chris' acting in that role. But Gene was a hairy guy (I noticed because I have a thing for hairy men) with lots of dark hair on his forearms. I don't think the movie ever showed his chest though. Nowadays, Chris' arms & chest are pretty smooth & hairless. Do they shave him? Does he shave himself? I know "smooth & hairless" are currently fashionable, but damn I love the look of a hairy-chested man with dark hair on his arms. Does anyone have an answer? And I'll ask for forgiveness in advance for this question (Mea culpa), but wasn't that weekend when CM got his hair implants too?

Remind me if I ever meet you not to bring my husband :P . He has lots of dark hair on his chest, stomach, and arms. I like bare, or almost bare myself, so I love Chris's chest.

I love Chris's chest too =D. I'm not really into the hairy thing.

I'll take some hair....not hairless....but not like a bear either. Hair implants? On his head, right? I must have missed that along the way. I've never seen Hot Wet Summer. Not sure I care to...too hairy of a Chris for me. It'll kill my fantasy :P

Did anyone else watch "WHAS" on WGN Sunday night? The announcer kept saying that movie was supposed to be "Her Majesty, Mrs. Brown" but it was "WHAS". I wonder if a CM fan worked at the station & substituted that movie since Monday was Chris" birthday? Chris was undoubtedly the best thing in the movie, but I can't help but wonder how they got other well-known people in such a loser movie? I understand parodies, but this wasn't campy enough to be a good parody.

See, that's funny, because I think it's a great parody. What bugs me is when people think it's a straight summer camp comedy and are disappointed. To me, there are so many perfect zings at so many movie cliches, starting with double-set (the whole movie, and the town scene, the second using the cliched montage) of the "everything in the world can be done in one day" thing (c'mon, have you ever seen Ferris Bueller? They did about a half a dozen different things over the course of a pretty short day--Sloane was already at school by the time they left, and Ferris got home before his working parents did--when in reality, they could have done two, or MAYBE three), and ending with the "chase scene" with the moped and the bale of hay (whcih parodies, oh, I don't know...every action movie ever made?!). Not to mention the purposely insane use of language: The can of veggies becoming Gene's advisor because the kid said to it "Maybe you can talk to him" is genius. I don't know, maybe it's better if you're a movie buff, and you're more familiar with all the specific things it's making fun of.

No, I'm not a very sophisticated movie fan, so I don't appreciate subtleties that other folks do. I don't see many movies. I can't remember the last time I went to a theater to watch a movie. I don't remember dialog in movies either. I just react from the gut as to whether I like a movie or not. I did rather enjoy "Harold & Kumar" when it was on TV, more than I thought I would. :)
