Title: Diving & Poor Viz at Chepstow
Description: call before you go!

Hi all,

Went diving at the NDAC Cheptsow on saturday with Gary Watt and due to HSE work required on the rock face on the quarry they're having to remove lots of rock from the area - which is causing lots of silt and sediment to cloud the water there. The Viz was only three metres - jest you not - we had to use a buddy line it was so bad. :ph43r: Work may continue for a few weeks as well. That makes Wraysbury the local challenger for dive time! If you are going to need a deep water site please call the NDAC first to see if the work is ongoing and check on the Viz! Tel: Shop: 01291 630046 or the Office: 01291 630850.

Happy diving!

Hi all,

If you want to venture further away from Wraysbury, but need a change from Stoney, you could take a look at Vobster Quay down near Frome in Somerset. www.vobsterquay.co.uk

Like Stoney it has a max depth of 36-40m, but als plenty of attractions around 20-22m. Temperature wise it is like any other inland site at this time of year ******* cold :o ! Visibility wise it can be variable, but I have never seen it as bad as Wraysbury, and over the Winter months tends to be fairly clear as there are fewer novice divers. They also have a good burger van and hot showers are free :D !

Hi Lynne!

Thanks very much for the tip - may well go to Vobster on Sunday with Shrek and have a good look round! Always up for a good burger!

Have a good one and thanks again for the tip,

G
