I was thinking of adding a distinctive banner to the main page, but I can't be bothered until we have a GOOD banner to put up. Anyone got any ideas?

Also, there is a limited number of space (as this is a free board). We'll see how it goes for a while, and if it looks like the space we have is no good, I'll try and upgrade to a pay version with more space. :)

I notice that no one seems to be making threads. I know that could be because no one has cause to yet, but it would be cool if someone could post a topic on something so I know I have given that permission. Certainly, my test account can post topics, but I am not sure if others can.

Basically, if anyone notices any bugs or glitches, please tell me via PM. :)

Are there any SMILIES that folks would like added to the board? I can add some, I think, but not too many, and not if they are lude or aught :P

But not ":mrgreen:"? The only problem is that it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the smilies. They're all a bit bigger.

You have two smilies encoded for :lol: [ : lol : ].

Another forum I use has loads more smilies which look like they came from the main invision website; ie they fit better with the style. The sick icon demonstrated is an example. But to be honest I don't really think we need that many, but it's your choice. It is quite fun. I'll try to track them down, but if I can't I might just do a screenshot and give it to you to track down.

edit: I can't really. You might have more success... :)

Hmmm... doesn't quite say it for me, partly because it's smiling. I was thinking something more like the phpbb one or the msn one (those I actually use).

where the basic idea is to use the inverted two and three as 'z' and 'e' in 'dozens'...
(I definitely prefer the DSGB's symbols for ten and eleven)

Well, I've added the following clickable symbols/emoticons. Except they aren't aligned quite right. If anyone wants to fix them for me, then I would be glad to implement them. :)

Congratulations on the new masthead design. That's really very effective.

Just thought this might be useful for little bits and pieces.

Some forums have buttons for "my posts" so you can get to your posts quickly.
And "view new posts" doesn't list all the posts made since I was last here!

To clear things up; when you say it doesn't list new posts, do you mean it doesn't work at all? As when I press it is seems not to work/an error message comes up (altho that might be because of my administrator permission mask).

If you click on "My Assistant" in the top right-hand corner- next to "view new posts"- a little panel will pop up which, amongst other things, let you search for posts and brings up your last ten posts.

Does this help?

Thought I'd check this out too.

Clicked on "new posts" and no new posts were reported - and yet there was at least one posted since I was last here.
The last time it did report new posts it didn't list all the new posts made since my last visit.

Since the rate of postings has gone down after the first rush I think the list of topics shown should be extended to three months instead of just 30 days, otherwise it looks to newcomers as if there's been very little going on.

Of course it is possible to change the setting, to get a list of all topics back to the beginning, but a newcomer might not notice that on a quick visit.

Sorry I've not been a regular contributor. I'd like to spend more time on dozenals but have too many other competing interests.

Three things really.
1. It would be nice if we could post tables.
2. I have created symbols for ten, eleven and zero which show up on the board nicely when I've only got a few but if I have a large post, I get an error message that I have posted too many images.

The obvious way round this at the moment is to prepare the whole table in paint but this is time-consuming. Is there a simple way round this?
3. In this topic thread, new posts don't show up unless you click the second thread consequently it looks as if the Mighty Dozen is the one and only poster.

I suggest that you guys use MyBBoard and not invision. That way you could have the board on your site and could have a url like http://dozenalsociety.org.uk/board/ Also, no adds, and the board is completely controlled by you.

Yes, you can download a converter from IPB 1.3 to MyBB here. ;) Some more info about the MyBB board at Wikipedia.

You wouldn't be constantly shifting the address. <_< Just once, and to a more easily-rememberable and appropriate address.
