Morbid Angel's 4th studio album Domination has been widely considered their sellout album (similar to metallica's black album), i find this to be insulting to death metal's good name (haha).
The album has good & not so good tracks, it starts with Dominate, which is exactly what the song & album title suggest, a solid 3 minute track of fast paced riffs, drumming & solos & an excellent opener, Where the Slime Live hails 2nd in the album lineup, this song has gained some outside recogntion for it's repulsive grudge sound that has been incorporated into a death metal format.
Tracks that follow weave in & out of Morbid Angel style, for instance Eyes to See, Ears to Hear, Dawn of the Angry & This Means War are traditional Morbid Angel tracks which are just death metal in all it's glory but some tracks like Hatework, Inquisition (Burn With Me) & Caesar's Palace are a new style for the band that could help understand why people consider this to be Morbid Angel's downfall album, in any event, the tracks are solid & compliment the bands instrumental skills as muscians.
Like with all albums, Domination has bad points, for one, 2 of those stupid filler tracks Morbid Angel are famous for are in this album that are just 2 minute ambient noises that just waste space (hence 'filler track'), some of the lyrics are also absurd such as Caesar's Palace which is a song about giving the earth back to the Undead Caesar or some such crap, right, good luck on that fella's.
All in all this album is solid, it retains Morbid Angel's original death metal escence & also incorporates new styles for the band as a whole, it is in no way a 'sellout' album as people have suggested but simply takes on a new approach, but hey, how can you blame the guys for trying something different instead of being generic like most death metal?
