slipknot is very mainstream imo. I mean, have you heard of a band called "Every Time I Die" recently? Thats one good band that isn't mainstream. So is "It Dies Today," "Bleed The Sky," "Trivium." I mean, I don't walk around and see people wearing those shirts every day. On average, I will see someone wear a "slipknot" shirt at least 7 times a week. 1 a day. With that being said, you will find that the bands I listed are quite better, and have more too them then slipknot. Now, I don't listen to slipknot, as I don't like them, but thats besides the point. I find that the greatest bands are hidden. You got to dig to find gold don't you?

that's probably the only band that I like that have been mainstream, sorry but they're broken up now.

Darkest Hour, Scars Of Tomorrow, It Dies Today, The Bronx etc. are all good, non-mainstream bands.

check them out.

and if it wasn't for MTV2, or the internet, you would've never known about those bands either.

All bands listed in this thread are painfully mainstream as far as i'm concerned, not because people wear their band logo t-shirts or they get sufficent MTV playtime but because the majority of metal fans know them (i'm reffering to metal elitists, guru's, collectors, enthusiasts not general listeners). The bands listed would fall under 'emocore' in the metal society even though they aren't.

What's this assbabble. Death, Black and Thrash are not the only genres of metal. Heavy and Doom (NWOBHM style, not the umptemillion candlemass clones) have been around long before Death and Black metal were even genres!
