Cannibal Corpse to start recording
On October 17th, we will be entering Mana studios in St. Petersburg Florida to begin recording our 10th studio album. Erik Rutan will be at the helm as producer. The recording and mixing should be complete by December, and the album's release date will hopefully be sometime in March of 2006. After the release, we look forward to getting out on the road and performing for all of our great fans worldwide.
As for the new album, we are doing everything we can to make sure it's the heaviest, most brutal one we've ever made. We have 11 songs completed and if possible we'd like to write one or two more before entering the studio. Check back for tour dates and studio reports in the coming weeks.

If my hopes are set right this will be an automatic killer album and I am looking forward to cranking the piss out of it to drown out the wife yelling at me to turn it down.

Finnish rockers NIGHTWISH are not concentrating solely on singing skills as they search for a TARJA TURUNEN's replacement - they also require beauty and self-confidence.
Turunen was axed in a letter given to her in Helsinki, Finland, by her former colleagues after their final world tour performance. They accused her of "greed, underestimating the fans, and breaking promises".
Keyboard player TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN says, "The new singer will be chosen not only for her singing skills.
"She must also be beautiful, charismatic and she must possess a great deal of self-esteem.
"We will be open to a slightly new sound."
pfffft, when beauty overtakes talent in a music/metal scene, something is very wrong.

Strapping Young Lad recording update
Strapping Young Lad posted the following official word on the recording process:
"A quick writing update for our freaks out there!!
It's going great, got too many song ideas, haha! About 6 are complete, and the rest are very close...
Most of you probably know that Dev and his merry men are going on tour for a couple weeks with some very fine Swedish friends of ours, Opeth.
So, during that time, the rest of us are going to be perfecting our song parts, 'tweaking' the little stuff, and writing a few more...this is when the barn doors get blown off!
Dev has also got a couple ideas he's going to work on while he's out on tour, so when he gets back, we'll show him ours and vice-versa, and then we'll have WAY too many songs!!! Which is a good thing, if it turns out that one song isn't 'feeling' right in the studio, there are more to choose from...or we can 'chop and blend' a part in or out if a song just needs 'a little something'.
The sun is out in Vancouver...finally...it's been like 2 months of solid rain...depreessing as hell man. I'll take the snow and deepfreeze at home in Philly over that...even though it's been really mild there...no deep freeze yet...crazy weather man, makes me wonder, ya know?
Alright, I digress, SYL is rockin, on your door we'll be knockin...this summer.
I need more coffee.
Cheers eh?"
Simon

Aborted part ways with two members
Aborted have posted the following on their official website regarding the dismissals of Tace and Frederic.
"Due to personal issues that could not be resolved, Aborted, Tace & Free had to part ways. A cummulation of smaller and bigger problems in the past so and so months has made it virtually impossible to keep cooperating together as a collective unit. Tace & Free are not vanishing, they will remain active in their other projects. People will see Free in his other band "Forced Hate" and Tace in a new band.
"On a more positive note, we want to state that absolutely nobody out there should worry about shows getting canceled and so on. The February tour with Cryptopsy, Grave, Dew-Scented a.o., will go on as planned! Stepping in are Seb (Genital Grinder/Balrog) on guitar, Olivia (ex-No Return/Balrog) on bass and Matty (Emeth) on guitar as well since Steph could not commit him self to this tour due to his lady sitting at home pregnant, ready to give birth.
"We have already rehearsed our setlist with the new line-up several times and things are working out perfectly. The motivation and "drive" is back in the band, something that was missing since a while ago, and it feels great to be jamming out the tunes with fresh blood incorporated. Throughout the years this band has been struggling with the line-up, having more than a couple of line-up changes. However, Aborted has proven that what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, and this time it should be no exception.
"We also started working on the successor to "The Archaic Abattoir", which is set to be recorded later this year. Again we would like to thank all of those who have supported us, and we're glad you are still doing so. We will see many of you on tour in February!

BELPHEGOR Complete Second Recording Session For New CD
Austrian death/black metal act BELPHEGOR have completed the second recording session for their sixth album at producer Andy Classen's Stage One studios in Germany:
Commented guitarist/vocalist Helmuth: "Well, the first two sessions are finished and let me tell you working with Andy Classen is just awesome, never before recorded on better equipment in my life. BELPHEGOR's sound has never been so massive and fresh, and I'm more than sure that this album gained a new dimension for the band (for example, I'm doing all the chanting and backing vocals on my own. I practiced a lot to handle that epic-sounding shit haha, and I'm very proud of the result...). This album will be a new step forward for BELPHEGOR. I spent all my energy in the last months on this album. A lot of new elements and a higher level of composition and structure are added as well. Besides you will hear the most aggressive and rawest vocal work I've ever done. No bullshit when I say we will give you the strongest opus we've ever made. Be prepared!"
On Wednesday, January 25, 2006, the band will commence the third and final studio session, recording the lead guitar for the CD and completing the vocals for three songs, as well as creating various samples and "in/outro stuff."
Commented guitarist Sigurd: "The nine tracks have reached a 'new level' of dynamic. We try to bring out the best of the potential we have. We worked for the first time with two different guitar [tunings] — and very unconventional moods in the hertz area, to let it all sound more monumental.
"The album title isn't set yet, but will follow soon. Here is a list of some new sound collages: 'Throne of Sacrilege', 'Flammandus Et Contemtus', 'Bluhtsturm Erotica', 'Belphegor – Hell's Ambassador'."
Check out pictures from the recording sessions at this location.
BELPHEGOR will be supporting CANNIBAL CORPSE on the first two shows of the upcoming No Mercy Festivals European tour in April 2006.
"We are all looking forward to these 'hell shows,' and are very excited to be sharing the stage again with one of our all-time faves," stated Helmuth.
BELPHEGOR's fifth full-length album, "The Goatreich - Fleshcult", was released in Europe in February via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded at Mastersound Studio in Fellbach, Germany and is the follow-up to 2003's "Lucifer Incestus".

New Bassist joins Decapitated on US Tour
Decapitated has some new blood within its ranks to envigorate the death metal act just before hitting the United States like a steamroller on their stint on the Annihilation of the Wicked Tour alongside Nile. Please welcome new bassist Richard Gulczynski to the Earache family.
Richard is incredibly excited to share the stage with Decapitated as they tour throughout the US starting January 12th in Memphis, Tenn up until February 12th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL when the tour wraps up. Also featured on the Annihilation of the Wicked bill are metal giants Soilent Green, Hypocrisy, Raging Speedhorn and Earache's own With Passion.
Decapitated are also slated to deliver what could possibly be the death metal record of early 2006, "Organic Hallucinosis", this February. Providing a powerful groove to keep their technical onslaught of metal from becoming repetitive, Decapitated have elevated their game past their already critically acclaimed past releases and want to show the world that those albums were merely stepping stones in their progression to becoming the death metal act for the 21st Century.
Decapitated are completely renewed at this important juncture point in their career and are ready to show the world their brand of metal in 2006. Decapitated's new album "Organic Hallucinosis" will be in stores everywhere February 7th 2006.

Megadeth Frontman Looking At Several Labels
MEGADETH frontman DAVE MUSTAINE is weighing up three record contract offers as he considers the future of his music career.
The rocker left label Sanctuary after the band's last album was released in 2004.
He currently has new offers on the table - but is taking his time to make sure he makes the right choice.
Mustaine says, "This will probably be my last record contract. It's either going to be great and I'll stay there forever or it's going to suck and I'll be so bitter with the music industry that I'll just quit and go play CAT STEVENS songs up in Tibet."

DARK TRANQUILLITY Embark On U.S. Tour With OPETH This Week
DARK TRANQUILLITY will make their triumphant return to the U.S. this week alongside Opeth and The Devin Townsend Band. The trek, which kicks off on February 15th and runs through March 21st, will be the group's second U.S. run in support of Character, their highly acclaimed latest album that brought these originators of the famed Gothenburg scene back to the forefront of the genre. Character, recorded once again at Studio Fredman (In Flames, Arch Enemy), has also been praised as their most groundbreaking yet as it retains all of the band's classic elements and thought-provoking lyrical content while blending the perfect amount of unrelenting aggression and melody.
Mikael Stanne (vocals) further describes his excitement over the upcoming tour: "Well, the packing is now complete and we are heading back to the U.S. These six degenerates from the foggiest, snowiest and coldest part of Gothenburg will cross over the Atlantic tomorrow and we are bringing the metal! This will be a great one for sure, touring with the ever amazing Opeth, the one and only Devin Townsend and Devildriver. Doesn't get much better than that. We have been plotting and scheming about setlists and such and we believe we have something very special in store for you all, both for the supporting dates and especially for the headline shows. See you there folks."
After mesmerizing crowds last year with Soilwork, Hypocrisy and Mnemic, the group are now poised to further solidify their spot as one of the genre's most aggressive and exciting live acts. Look below for the complete list of dates that also includes a few special headlining performances.
The band will also be available for phoners and in-person interviews at every show so if you are interested please feel free to get in touch

Deicide: Stench of Redemption Tracking Nearly completed
Florida based Death Metal act Deicide checked in from Morris Sound Studios in Tampa, Florida where they are nearing completion on their latest addition to the death metal pantheon. The album, titled The Stench of Redemption, is set for a 6.6.06 release date and is the first recorded outing sans Hoffman Brothers.
The band was incredibly excited to bring their latest vision to life which may explain their relentless speed in the studio. The band has been putting in long hard hours to get everything down on tape and is in the final stages of tracking now. As of Thursday, vocal tracks have been completed in addition to the previously completed rhythm and lead guitar tracks and drums. Vocalist Glen Benton is currently milling over the recorded vocals to see if there are any portions of the recording that he'd like to thicken up or re-track to improve them. Along with that, Bass tracks should be finished as well by the time you are reading this.
Deicide will add the finished touches to the album and then move on to the next stage of mixing as early as this weekend.
Deicide's The Stench of Redemption is scheduled for a 6.6.06 release date. Their Earache debut, The Scars of the Crucifix, is available in stores now and through the Earache webstore.

Filmed in a swamp, the video features acolytes receiving the infamous worm-communion from Lord Worm’s chalice. Can’t wait until Saturday, watch the video at the Century Media website here.
North American and Australian fans will be able to witness the band’s decimating live show, dates here. Skinsman Flo Mounier commented, “How perfect is this, Cryptopsy tears it up on the East Coast with Immolation and long-time faves Exodus, then goes to Australia for the first time ever to unleash Canadian brutality; hoping it won't effect their ecosystem too gravely. Finally one week on the west coast, where we'll have a few days to get to know you better… be prepared.” Touring in support of their new album Once Was Not, the band have also been scheduled to perform at the following European summer festivals: Germany’s Party San Open Air and England’s Ghostfest. Complete information on Cryptopsy can be found at the Century Media website here, or the band’s official website here.

Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan responds to Derek Roddy & Announces New Drummer
If you've been following the metal online press over the last few days you're aware that drummer Derek Roddy has parted ways with Hate Eternal. Unfortunately this departure was at a crucial time for Hate Eternal as the band are scheduled for a well advertised tour with Chiamaira and Arch Enemy in only a matter of days. In an effort to persevere like he has done so many times, Erik Rutan sought out a replacement to sit behind the kit for the tour. Erik has found that replacement in Kevin Talley. Kevin has played in a number of bands, namely Chimaira and Dying Fetus. We are excited for the tour and look forward to hearing how Talley will effect the live sound. Erik Rutan sent us this message to acknowledge and confront everything said by Roddy in his press release:
HATE ETERNAL ALIVE AND STRONGER THAN EVER!!!!
First off,I want to say that Hate Eternal WILL NOT be cancelling any upcoming tour dates,PERIOD!We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone next week on the Chimaira/Arch Enemy tour as well as seeing you loyal sick maniacs in Europe who have been so patiently waiting to see us for over a year.
At this point we would like to announce that Kevin Talley will be stepping up to the plate and filling in on drums for the upcoming US Chimaira/Arch Enemy tour. Kevin is an amazing talent that we very much look forward to touring with and we want to thank him sincerely for his help in fulfilling our committment.
Regarding Derek Roddy, He has left Hate Eternal with very little warning and I want to set the story straight. We wish to take the high road here so there will be no mud slinging and whining, just facts. Randy and I spoke to Derek this past weekend and he informed us that a situation in his life had arisen which might stop him from doing these tours and force him to leave the band. But if everything turned out ok,he would fulfill his obligation to the band and fulfill our touring committments. We did not hear from Derek since that conversation and the next thing we know,48 hours later, I get a phone call from a friend stating about Dereks press release with him quitting the band in which we had no prior knowledge of, contradicting our conversation 2 days prior. I found out like everyone else did online!
Regarding the content of his press release, we Hate Eternal have never stopped or restrained Derek from playing, recording or touring with any other projects(He has recorded multiple albums during the 6 years of Hate Eternal with Council of the Fallen, Aurora Borealis, Nile, plus doing drum clinics, his instructional videos and his new project with Alex Webster). So we found his statement quite a contradiction and shocking to say the least. I still have not spoken to Derek since this and
have no idea where his head is at. No one has supported Derek more than Randy and I for the last 6 years and we have made many sacrifices for Derek to be a part of this band. Anyone and everyone in this buisness knows if you think you are going to make tons of cash playing metal, than you are in it for the wrong reasons, that is why we have been supportive in Derek making money with his other projects, clinics, dvds, etc..We as a band have had financial setbacks with a van accident and being stranded in Canada forcing us to cancel many shows but every other tour we have done has made financial gain, not a ton
of cash, but in the green. What band has not had financial woes.Hate Eternal has helped Derek become a very well known drummer, sell dvd instructional videos, endorsements, etc and make tons of fans of Dereks drumming. After 6 years of playing together we would have hoped that he would leave on better terms than he did, but life goes on. We wish Derek luck in his future endeavors.
Nothing will stop Hate Eternal!!
Sincerely,
Erik Rutan

Dying Fetus Enter the Studio
Dying Fetus have posted the following on the bands official website:
"we know everyone is concerned about the drummer spot, our new album, touring, etc. First off we want to say we are anxious to record and tour after nearly a year off. The demos are going well, and we are spending extra time finalizing the music and composing the lyrics. Our tentative date to enter the studio to record the new album is mid-summer. Secondly, we encourage anyone who is interested in auditioning for the drummer spot to get in touch with us as soon as possible - although we have been holding out to find a permanent member, the show must go on and we have a contingent plan to hire a session drummer if necessary. As far as touring, for now we can only say that we have accepted some very interesting options for later in the year. We will announce names and dates once the details are confirmed! "

Megadeth Album Update
Megadeth mastermind Dave Mustaine writes on the band's Web site that they are in the studio recording a follow-up to 2004's The System Has Failed. Mustane writes that he has "spent the last few days tracking with [guitarist Glen Drover] and [drummer Shawn Drover], and it is the coolest thing to see them be a part of it for real now. And yesterday especially, was an interesting guitar day, when I witnessed the moment the songs went from an idea in my head to [Glen] getting it. And he is such a great player that each song immediately comes to life as soon as he played on it."

Municipal Waste: On Tour with Baroness, Puerto Rico dates announced
Municipal Waste has officially started off their 2006 Wastedness tour with Baroness. The band are currently brutalizing the east coast and kicking some serious audio ass. Over a bad cell phone connection Tony Forresta filled us in, "The tour so far has been awesome. The shows have been really well attended and most of them have sold out." As always the shows feature some of the best crowd responses a band could dream of, "People are going nuts, the Richmond shows especially have been crazy. Alot of stage dives and kids just going off," continued Forresta. Wastedness 2006 treks on till the 14th of April in Savannah, GA. Municipal Waste kick in the warm weather like no one else, come out and rock out.
Municipal Waste is scheduled to headline the Godwin Metal Showcase at this year MACRoCk (Mid Atlantic College Radio Conference) festival. The showcase, taking place on April 8th which is the second day of the fest, features other metal acts such as Baroness, Unearthly Trance, Backstabbers Inc. and many others. Previous metal headliners include Pig Destroyer and Converge. MACRoCk is a conference organized by James Madison University's radio, WXJM. The goal of MACRoCk is to promote independent and underpromoted music, thought, art, business and culture. MACRoCk is currently the largest independent music conference on the East Coast and offers a unique opportunity for bands, industry professionals and fans to interact and support the music they love.
Municipal Waste will be heading for warmer climates this coming May. The band have just announced they will be performing two dates in Puerto Rico on May 5th and 6th, continuing to prove the band will travel anywhere to bring their brand of thrash to the masses. Municipal Waste is incredibly excited to get down to this tropical destination and perform in front of their Puerto Rican fans.
The band is also locked in for a tour with Deathwish Inc.'s Doomriders sometime in the spring/early summer, more info on that in the near future.
Municipal Waste's Hazardous Mutation is available in stores now. CDs and LPs are available for purchase through the Earache webstore.

EXODUS spead their adrenaline throughout North America
What do you get when you arm a triple-dose of adrenaline provided by thrash guitar icon Gary Holt, veteran Bay Area 6-stringer Lee Altus (ex-Heathen), and former Slayer/Testament/Forbidden drummer Paul Bostaph then fuel that concoction with the gravitational pull of Jack Gibson's bass lines and Rob Dukes' bullhorn voice?
In one word: EXODUS.
Praised for being masters of their musical genre in recent editions of Guitar World, Drum! Magazine, Hit Parader, Decibel, Metal Maniacs, and Pit Magazine, EXODUS take their wares and their extreme talent on the road to showcase their brand of legalized aggression.
Out in support of Shovel Headed Kill Machine - the album Guitar World simply called "punishing" - and joined by Full Blown Chaos and Subzero for the majority of the tour (which includes stints with Canada's Cryptopsy, New York's Immolation, and Suffocation from Long Island), EXODUS continue to lead an influx of new and long-time fans through an intense, urgent workshop on perseverance and how to handle the adversity life never ceases to dish out.
States founding member/songwriter Gary Holt: "People not having faith in me tends to drive me and push me forward. I need someone to prove wrong. I work best when I'm facing an uphill battle."
