Ummm, hey all! =^.^=

Ok, REALLY wierd thing... I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on this... Apologies for the LARGE explaination;

I didn't know of FadedGlory until the other day... when I noticed a small business card left upon my sofa.

Now... our house is up for sale, and we had a viewing the day I noticed the card. So, I'm guessing the the mistery viewee left it.

Upon further investigation, I then noticed some extra FG information scrawled on the reverse of the card. Along with this additional info, was two UBER-cute (and notedly ACCURATE) doodles of Totoro holding a sword, and Catbus! Much to my delight, as I am a RABIT Totoro fan!

I then pondered upon why ... and also ... who? Hmmm... The why is, why would someone leave a LARP card in my house?

I have never actually got around to any LARPing. I do however, have various latex weaponry gloriously hung upon my bedroom wall... I INTENDED to get into LARP, made myself some weapons, and then never got around to going to an event. Ah ha... that will be the reason for the card...

... but then why Totoro? Hmmm... this person may have just doodled the anime character and it was just coincidence that I'm a fan.... OR, upon glancing around the front room, they noticed my hand crafted pottery Totoro mug! It would have taken a sharp eye to notice though... (OR a particularly nosey person to rummage through my DVDs! LOL)

So ok... possible explaination. Now this is where you guys come in... any here have any idea who would be viewing my house and leaving cards?!? I live in Somerset Street in Northampton... anyone viewed a house there recently??

I think you should get yourself down to the next event and conduct your investigations in Person, that way you get to solve a mystery, do some roleplaying and even make friends with someone who also likes Toroto.

However you can eliminate me from the investigation as I live in Essex and as far as I know I'm not looking to move (then again I am drunk most weekends so you never know)

My name is Pete, also known as evil genius to my crew and "you total bas***d" to the player team (I kid you not :D ), I am the one who writes and runs the events

I must admit your story foxed me a little until I spoke to some friends of mine and got the explanation.

The calling card was indeed left by people viewing your house, a couple of close friends who have helped me run Faded Glory since the start who go by the names of Sarah and Paul (and the sigs of Ubmrial and Soot on this board)

They did indeed spot the latex weapons and totero mug when viewing you house and thought they should leave a card as we are always looking for new blood for the system.

The artist is Sarah who, like myself is a huge totero fan, she also did most of the artwork for the system.

Anyway, that is why you ended up with a Faded Glory card on your sofa. Don't worry we don't bite and are quite a nice bunch (as long as no-one uses the words "dare" and "patch" in the same sentance :blink:) So if you did want to come along to the next event you would be most welcome.

If you want to come and crew for us they all you need is sleeping gear and food for the weekend and we will provide all the costume and weapons etc you need and its a great way to get in to Larping.

We don't take ourselves too seriously and i generally consider an event a faliure if someone has not laughed till they cried at least once :lol:

Feel free to ask any further questions you have and ill do my best to answer them.

I'm very sorry if Sarah and I confused you.

Sarah was in fact the first to notice your Totoro mug and squeeled with delight :lol: in a manner which quite alarmed the estate agent (:o) . As we explored the rest of the house we found mounting evidence that the residents we're of similar mind to ouselves: The Polyhedral dice in the basement; the weapons both real and LARP safe on the walls.

I have to admit that this made it all the easier to imagine ourselves living there and we made an offer the same day. I also half expected to meet you on Sunday when we came round for a second viewing.

Sarah and I are both huge fans of Studio Ghibli and Totoro. You can see some of her other work on Puddingbat at deviantart the Totoro pics are near the beginning. (shameless plug :P )

I have put up posters in the past at the university for Faded Glory but we have never had a response. SO hoping you might be interested we left the card.

I do hope that the skullduggery :ph43r: has not scared you off and we will see you at some future event.

There are at least 5 other Totoro fans here, the rest just haven't watched it yet :ph43r:

I hope you will be able to attend our next shindig if at all possible so we can finally meet in person.

PPS, I'm not normally this formal, but I am at a bit of a loss of what to say after you replied to the card....... thank you is probably a good start though.

I'm 25 in December, I am a network technician in a large school, hobbys include making stuff, reading, and anything internet based... Ummmm... my LARP background is non-existant, but I'm sure I'll be converted. I have made various items of LARP equipment and really enjoy tabletop. I play bass, didgeridoo and drums (looking to join a band!) ... and ... ummm ... any questions?? :D

Okies, I'm a 28 year old female (not my fault) receptionist in NGH, and have been LARPing for um.... not sure, probably about 7 years. I spend most of my time lurking on Deviant art and have been known to spend time on World of Warcraft as well. I've been building PC's for quite a long time, and have been known to play the piano (grade 7) and the bassoon (grade 5)
Paul and I have been known to manufacture LARP weapons, props and costumes and I have a HND in animation which is really useful in my job at NGH of sitting there motionless for hours.
I also enjoy tabletop, reading (when I finally sit down to it) anime, and sleeping (I do NOT do mornings)
Most of the time for FG I ref, moderate (NPC) the boards, sometimes write plot and am generally the trunk route to the bad place. Rarely I also play Umbrial a well connected tetchy water mage.

I'm really glad we didn't scare you off!

Yeah, there is a story of a couple actually camping at LARP in a bloody great teepee... There were rumours that they had also brought along a certain item of .. er... 'rubber weaponry' shall we say... word got around and the teepee was actually written into the plot as a 'house of negotiable affection' ... AKA Porno TeePee! :D
