Title: The Lizards Cool

Omnipotent Overlord - April 12, 2007 11:36 AM (GMT)
The Lizard-King arrived in the troubled Lizard-kin lands to try and end the deadlock between his people and the Lords of the surrounding lands. He met with diplomats from sent by the Elven Queen and the King and Queen of the Dark Elves. The meeting lasted late in to the night but at its conclusion the Elves had agreed stand down their troops from the borders of their lands. The Dark Elves, keen to prove that that old attitudes towards the elves were past followed their lead and also agreed. The Lizard-Kin have also agreed to stand their forces down along the borders with the Elven and Dark Elven lands.

Lord Malnear was also invited to send an envoy to this meeting declined to do so because the last one he sent was assassinated. Malnear demanded that a mercenary by the name of Largos was to be turned over to him to be tried for the murder of his envoy before he would agree to send another to talk to the Lizard-kin. The Lizard-kin have made it clear that they believe that this Largos has nothing to do with the assassination but Malnear was insistent that until this term was met he would not negotiate with the Lizard-kin. Malnear also has placed a bounty on the head of this Largos of 200 crowns. A sizable sum that would ensure nearly every bounty hunter in the protected zone will be trying to collect it.

Overall this leaves the Protected Zone in a much more stable state with only the troops along the borders between Malnear and the protected zone still in place, but with no need for troops along the other borders the Lizard-kin are free to fortify that border, making life very difficult for Malnear who is already facing pressure from the council to back down and many of the Lords have expressed their strong displeasure at Malnears decision to attack the Lizard-kin over the death of his envoy. The Lizard-King may have to answer some stiff questions from the council as to why his people acted as they did but in the end it seems that Malnear came out of this the worst for ware, with the possible exception of the unfortunate Largos character who, guilty or not, is going to be facing a rough time of it.
