The Encephalon are safe, the hunters believe they have wiped us out and only I remain, soon they will capture me as well but we have prepared. The last Elder guided my hand well and preparations have been made to ensure our future. We will rise again and take our rightful place on our world this is assured even though it may take us centuries or millennia we WILL be back nothing can stop that now.
They took our young and used them in their experiments they killed us after we served them with dedication, we shall not forget the betrayal that the Jharim laid upon us and one day we will return the treatment with the same merciless brutality they used upon us.
We were nothing more than a speed bump in the invasion of the T’cra and weakened as we were by he Jharim we were conquered and absorbed in to the T’cra. Had they not been in such a hurry we may have been more heavily integrated in to their society but fortunately there seemed to be some great plan they were rushing to get ready for. It soon became clear that the great plan was an invasion of another world to get something they wanted desperately. All the T’cra were infused with the same kind of desperation, greater than their need to eat or sleep, as though some great event were coming and we were swept up in it.
Terrible as this was I suppose that it s all that saved the Encephalon, they dragged us along with them to this goal they took us to another world and forced us to take part in the slaughter of its population. This was no all bad, we discovered the minds of the sentient creatures of this world were far sweeter and more intense than those of our home.
However, we knew we could not remain part of this horde and be assimilated in to it, as soon as we were able as many of us as possible slipped away from the main army and hid from the other T’cra. Did I think of myself as T’cra, I guess for a short while I did, when you live, breath, eat and sleep T’cra you start to think like them too, I guess that’s part of the assimilation process.
Our departure was noticed and we spent many weeks on the run, many of us died but soon the pursuit was stopped. We learned later that the T’cra army had been beaten back destroying the entire island they lay siege to in the process. For the first time since the Jharim betrayal we were safe.
We found that we could not tolerate long exposure to the sunlight of this world and therefore took to living in the darker places and there our numbers grew.
It took centuries before we got our first Elder and finally we started to feel like we had a home again. Over time we settled new subterranean areas and more Elders came in to being. It was a very long process but eventually we had a semblance of our old life back from before the betrayal.
Time past, for the most part uneventfully. Then the hunters came, we are not sure where they came from or what it was they wanted but they started to hunt us, it was a slow gradual process but slowly one settlement ceased to be, then another and another. Eventually only the original settlement remained. We had done nothing to deserve this treatment, all we had wanted to do was to live in peace and happiness.
In a long meeting the last Elder met with the Ultras and a plan was hatched, I was amongst those Ultras and I was chosen to go out in to the world and find those who had beaten back the T’cra and ask them for help. The other Ultras would take steps to ensure that even if the last settlement was wiped out there would be ways of our people surviving. I know what they planned to do and if I returned to find all lost then I could bring back our people from oblivion.
I found those people who beat back the T’cra and while they did ensure the survival of my people, I honestly wish I had never found them for never in my wildest dreams did I imagine what it was I found.
