Title: The Smithy
Morgrim - July 12, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
Morgrim enters the smithy and unpacks the weapons he carrys , unsheathing his maces daggers, and the curved scimitar he never lets leave his side.
"master roarke i hope time serves you well , im sorry i have not popped in to see you over the last few weeks but i have been busy with my studies, i have passed the learnings i have aquired over the past few years in the art of armoursmithing to the trolls in this there time of need , i hope you dont mind me using the forge and some tools?" Morgrim picks up a wetstone and takes the burrs out of his daggers , then pulls a oiled rag from his pack and cleand the scimitars and daggers.

Hello Master rourke hows business. I was wondering if you could help me I,m looking to repair or remake my mace and would like these mandibles and claws adding to it but these things are really hard not something you will of seen before so I thought you might be interested in them .I was wondering if you could put it together for me I really want it to be special Its kind of a righting wrongs kind of thing and I want this to be a testament to fighting the good fight so to speak.
Master Roarke - July 17, 2007 12:15 PM (GMT)
"Bit quiet m'dear. I can have a go with the bits you have, as they aren't metal it might be a bit tricky to say the least."
He peers at the curious bug pieces with a curious look.
Isobel - July 17, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
These things are really tough they get through rock no problem its kind of an in between thing really there as strong as metal but are made from animal I suppose they will need to be treated a bit like tusks or teeth, would the tanner be able to help do you think
Master Roarke - July 18, 2007 01:32 PM (GMT)
He looks again at the proffered items.
"I think..... if you want them just stuck to your original mace... it's going to look a bit odd, and probably not handle as well."
He tests the edge of one of the mandibles.
"I reckon you might be able to make a really good weapon from these. But it's going to be a different smith than me. I'm simply not good enough to make an artificer weapon like these are good enough to make. You'll need some other bits of a suitable quality."
He scratches his head.
"It's going to cost as well, to make an item of that quality.. about 100 crowns I reckon, give or take."
Isobel - July 18, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
blimey I may have to take on some work to pay for it or ask for a loan. If I can raise the cash can you recommend someone who I can go to ,I don't mind traveling ?
Master Roarke - July 19, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
"I did hear rumours about a gent by the name of F'lar.... I think..... F'nar? F'yarp? F'somethingorother. Not often seen round these parts, he is a gifted artisan. I've seen a couple of examples of his work. Beautiful it is. Never met him meself though. I heard he was able to manufacture weapons powerful enough to harm a Devil!"
He shakes his head in admiration.
"I did hear he was recommended to Umbrial but I don't think he's been back since."
Isobel - July 23, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
ok I will ask Ubrial if I see her, Do you need any help here abouts i may be looking for a job ?
Ferret - March 9, 2008 11:39 PM (GMT)
<Ferret steps in and coughs to attract the blacksmiths attention>
Good sir, not sure if you've heard, but I'm trying to start up a business to supply secure boxes to the gentry, I'm a locksmith myself so will be doing the detail work, but I'll need a supply of sturdy boxes to secure with my locks - strong metal bands around hefty wooden chests, and thick plates to protect the outside of the lock itself, I'm sure you can picture the requirements.
I'll drop by with the exact requirements and sizes for the metalwork as and when appropriate, but for starters I'll need a supply of strong, yet thin plates, rods and threaded bolts will be needed for the locks themselves, along with the occasional use of your forge if that's ok?
Oh yes, and a good pair of metal snips, and a variety of metal files - particularly small & fine sizes if you please.
Also - and perhaps of use sooner than the rest, I note your large metal tongs on the wall, well, for a far more delicate task, I could perhaps use something similar, with a locking ring on them as you have, to hold them closed at any appropriate angle, something to grip skin, bone or perhaps even internal organs to gently hold them in place, I'd need much finer tools, and perfectly smooth - a sharp edge could be quite fatal... but saying that, a small saw with fine teeth may be useful for cutting bones actually, grisly perhaps but often necessary to get to where an injury lies...
Anyway, the reasons of why are probably more gory than you need, let me detail what I need...
<Ferret draws up some notes for master Roarke>
Isobel - March 10, 2008 01:12 PM (GMT)
( Isobel appears from the back of the smithy) Ferret I thought you had moved on from making boxes and gone into healing (Isobel looks cross). Master Rourke if you value your customers you wont supply him any boxes of any kind. the tools are fine as he uses them for surgery but no boxes .
Master Roarke - March 12, 2008 01:30 PM (GMT)
The burly mans face turns a shade of green not normally associated with humans.
"Um.. uh... I just a breath of air.. need yes... need air...."
He runs to the back window and breathes deeply.
Isobel - March 13, 2008 10:38 AM (GMT)
< looks at ferret>
Did you fart or something ?
Ferret - March 17, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
Wasnt me! I didnt do anything but talk to him, only wanted him to make a box, nothing wrong with making boxes, its a good living, you should know!
<Ferret laughs and runs out of the Smithy>
Talk to you later!!!!!
Isobel - March 17, 2008 11:10 PM (GMT)
Isobel scowls at ferrets departing back and goes to pat the smith on the back.. Are you ok? do you need a glass of water
Ferret - March 17, 2008 11:17 PM (GMT)
<From the other side of the window, outside of Isobels grasp, Ferret approaches Roarke to make sure he's ok>
Whats the matter good sir, the fumes getting to you in there, not smelting any unusual metals are you?
Ferret - March 17, 2008 11:18 PM (GMT)
Deep Breaths, in through the nose, hold for a moment, out through the mouth, thats it.
