Title: What's Happening?
Description: Winter Event

Delores - November 5, 2007 04:05 PM (GMT)
Has anything been decided about the last event of 2007 yet? Cos there's not a lot of the year left and arrangements could easily get burried in Christmas preparations, and quite frankly I'm badly in need of a Faded Glory Fix
Emma

Isobel - November 5, 2007 04:11 PM (GMT)
16th Dec is the weekend. its at Bedford again. its posted somewhere here on the board I am sure.

Delores - November 5, 2007 11:06 PM (GMT)
Where and when was it posted? I check the board most days and have seen nothing. John and I are going to have to find a way to get there as his car seems to have died at least until the new year.

Delores - November 6, 2007 12:07 PM (GMT)
O.K. I'm a Dyslexic idiot, I didn't realise that "Event details" did not show if you didn't log in; I've got a bad habit of only logging in if I want to add a comment or reply.

my bad p|

Trelaine - November 7, 2007 11:19 AM (GMT)
on a similar sort of note...any idea of final price for event yet....being december and all I kinda want to set aside certain moneys ahead of time so a heads up of cost would be appreciated.

Omnipotent Overlord - November 7, 2007 12:22 PM (GMT)
There is a new sticky post on the Event details forum with details in it and ill update it with more as i get the time.

Trelaine - November 7, 2007 01:33 PM (GMT)
oooh when did u get all efficient and stuff :)...

Sir Niall ap Trahern - November 7, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)
It's great, it will really make it straight forward for me to arrange time off. Thanks Pete. :D

Omnipotent Overlord - November 7, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
Meh what can i say, i have been a bit bloody useless in the past and recent real life stuff hasnt helped matters much but its time i got myself sorted out and at the very least got on with the parts of life I love.

If there are any requests people have sent me and I have failed miserably to reply then please give me a nudge and ill get them sorted out as soon as I possibly can.

Isobel - November 7, 2007 02:08 PM (GMT)
That advance warning is awesome I cant tell you how easy this will make my life.
Thanks
Pete

Sir Caelwin - November 7, 2007 04:40 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the list of dates Pete - looks like it's my birthday on the first day of the easter event - party time for the knights. Just need to find a really big cake if we invite squire.

infyrana - November 7, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
Gutted !

I very much doubt I can make the Easter weekend due to the high probability that I will be working that entire weekend :(

Can you confirm the July dates please, as they are for Wednesday through Friday ?

But well done on the advanced notice :)

Trelaine - November 7, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
will be at easter in some guise even if it's just to say hello, should know by end of nov if i'm finally getting the much required knee op i need and when it's likely to be if so possible that it may rule me out of playing that soon if it's happening. I'm hoping that even if i have it that i'll be up and running for the summer and autumn events..

Omnipotent Overlord - November 7, 2007 10:00 PM (GMT)
Ok Typo on the july dates corrected. Im gonna be booking these dates with work soon so as long as i get them off then these dates are going to be set in stone for next year.

infyrana - November 8, 2007 12:01 AM (GMT)
Cheers for the date correction.

I hope I'm booked on to play at the December event :D

Sir Niall ap Trahern - November 30, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
Two weeks and counting. :D

Trelaine - December 1, 2007 10:24 AM (GMT)
1 week 5 days till i start panically making the few new bits of kit i been planning since last event....although i do have the friday off so might leave it till the morning of the event :)

Dodgy Elf - December 1, 2007 11:09 AM (GMT)
I'm such a sad puppy, most of my kit is packed already. But I keep finding more stuff lying around and thinking I might need it. never know what might come in handy in my *cough.. proffession *cough....

Trelaine - December 1, 2007 11:25 AM (GMT)
I'D Recommend a good aliby should be the first thing you remember.

Filmy Ref - December 1, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
Spare socks and underpants.

Sir Niall ap Trahern - December 1, 2007 02:10 PM (GMT)
Just purchased two pairs of slinky active thermals, especially for the event. :P

Sir Niall ap Trahern - December 1, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)
Suggestion for Dodgy

Alibis are good but a scapegoat is far superior (for someone in your line of work).

Trelaine - December 1, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
well vollenteered for the role

Sir Niall ap Trahern - December 1, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)

If I was dubious kind of fellow that wouldn't be a problem. However, I'm not so it would have to be someone else......like you? :P

Trelaine - December 1, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
dubious....we all know that the knights are just a cover organisation for evil diabolists...where as i'm just a tree loving pacifist whos only dodgyness is his relationship with his squirrel.

Sir Niall ap Trahern - December 1, 2007 05:56 PM (GMT)
Well you did cause a shaman to explode when you did your excessive mana dump. How much more dubious can you get? :P

Trelaine - December 1, 2007 06:15 PM (GMT)
does the man who stockpiles the nukes cause the war...nah...i gave the power morgrim pressed the red button...

..which is much the same as giving a loaded gun to a trigger happy maniac.

Morgrim - December 1, 2007 11:16 PM (GMT)
Oi ! lol anywho should be good to get to the event, my kit fitted into one bag which is worrying,

Are slinky thermals like the things gymnasts wear?

Dodgy Elf - December 2, 2007 12:44 PM (GMT)
Alibi (If i'd done it you wouldn't have found the bodies) Not an alibi i came up with but the whole group at easter when the ambassadors body was found!

Scapegoat (Largos not coming?)

Ability to run and hide (Never leave home without it)

Copy of the new laws with hints and tips to get around it (Check)

Letter from my mum saying i was some where else (Forging it at the moment)

I'm a warrior of light you know! I'd never do anything bad!!!!!

Don't make Daniel regret letting you join <_<

Sir Niall ap Trahern - December 2, 2007 07:43 PM (GMT)
Excellent, my favourite Ogre is at the event. I thought we were a pretty good team at the last event. :D Besides, who else can I rely on to blow me through a wall when a trapped warehouse goes off.

BTW - Daniel, you must have realised that signing up Dodgy to the WoL was a two-edged sword!

Morgrim - December 2, 2007 11:28 PM (GMT)
hehe , this should be a.......intresting event ;)

Dodgy Elf - December 3, 2007 12:39 PM (GMT)
2 Edged sword hey!

I feel rather proud that in the last 3 events i've been complimented by quite a few party members on being very useful. Last event i "Volunteered" to go and do two tasks and got told i should stay because i was too useful to lose.

Only done 2 "Dodgy" things (That most of you know about) and i was asked to do that by others in the group for the sake of the group. One of those things i was asked to do by three different individuals or groups (Got paid by all three of them too :) )

I think Daniel made a great choice in me as a warrior of light. I may not be a saint but when i joined the warriors of light they gave me their mission statement and the rules they follow and i've followed them to the letter (my interpretation of the letter, If they don't say i can't do it then that means i can if it finishes the mission)

My Logic

1. If a person dies he gets up as undead unless he has his head removed.
2. If that person was to die alone then no one would be able to remove their head.
3. Becoming undead aids the undead armies.
4. The mission of the Warriors of light is to kill undead and those who aid them.
5. Everyone is therefore in a position to aid the undead if they were to die alone.
6. If i'm there when they die i can ensure they don't get up again.
7. Only way to dictate i'll be there when they die is to stab them up myself.

See, I'm sure you feel alot safer knowing i'm preventing the undead armies from winning.

Sleep well and don't have nightmares!

Sgt Tellos - December 3, 2007 02:48 PM (GMT)
<A ripple of applause from the Sergeant>

Good Lad!

Sir Niall ap Trahern - December 3, 2007 08:27 PM (GMT)
Methinks that Dodgy doth protest too much. :P

You are a consumate professional, almost of the same calibre as Ferret, and to be congratulated for avoiding the grief normally associated with your chosen career path.

Shucks [Blushes]

Almost of the same calibre as Ferret. I take that as high praise coming from a knight of the Code.

And thanks for the approval sergeant! Just doing my best.

Forgot to ask if promotion in the order was sort of DEAD MANS SHOES

Mhwaaahahahahaaaa... :D

Daniel - December 4, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
Not really.

It was just easier at the time for me to make Tellos a Sergeant in the Order, less confusion and I got to keep calling him Sgt Tellos even though he's not in the Guard anymore. :D

Promotion is based on merits/actions and whether I think you are where you're meant to be. :)

Like, you know how in Discworld, some of the Guards never get promoted while others do, even if they perform actions worthy of promotion?

Kinda like that. ;)

{Sitting in a promotion interview}

Interviewer "So where do you see yourself in the next 5 years"

Candidate "Your boss or Lord high general of the planet.. depending on whether I stay with the company of course!"

As the sole representative of the Warriors of light on the next mission i'm thinking a promotion for Elsquare is fitting. Decisions may need to be made that require someone of standing in the warriors of light. Mind you i still haven't met any other Warriors of light other than you and Tellos.

On the Discworld reference is Tellos more like Sgt Colon (Relaxed view of the rules and flatulent) or Sgt Detrius (Uses brute force at any opportunity)

And ugly as i am i'm not corporal Nobby Nobbs though i suppose some similarities exist
