Sorry to have to say this people but from after the Easter event onwards I am going to have to insist on a deposit from anyone who wants food at a Faded Glory event. If you don’t pay the deposit then when Cookie asks me how many meals to buy for then you won’t be counted, and therefore cannot be guaranteed food.

Deposits can be payable by cash, cheque or Paypal so I have tried to make it as easy and painless as possible. This also means that even if people book on quite late they can still pay their deposit and be guaranteed food. When I open an event for bookings I shall add information about whether deposits are required and how much they need to be.

The deposits will be refundable if you cancel up to a month before the event.

I didn’t want to have to enforce this but after the last week I am afraid I am going have to. When people book on to an event and ask for food I have to pay out for the ingredients for the meals. As you all know I don’t do FG for profit and try and keep my prices down as low as possible at all times but if someone cancels a week before an event I am left with the food I have bought for them that I have to pay for out of my own pocket. So far from the Easter event alone I am down £50 of my own money and I am sure this will increase as there will be at least one or two people who will not turn up at the event and will have not had the time to let me know.

I'm sure I speak for most of the players/crew in saying that deposits are no problem, ESPECIALLY if it means you're not out of pocket. No event should run at a loss because all that means is that kit and weapons don't get repaired/replaced, new kit doesn't get bought and eventually the system folds because it has no kit and the organisers are fed up of financing the system themselves!!

I must admit though, I thought you did run a deposit system, especially for the Easter event, or is that something that has fallen by the wayside?

Yeah I did orignally run a deposit system for events with meals but because nearly everyone was reliable, turning up when they said they would and becuase I didnt have a huge morgage, I didnt notice a few quid here and there for odd people who didnt turn up so I let it slide.

Now I do have a huge morgage and can't afford to sub FG a few quid for those that dont turn up I am sorry to say. Combined with the fact I have been getting several ls last minute cancellations/noshows for the last few events meant I couldn't afford to let it carry on. So I decided to re-instate the system and make sure it holds this time.

I am not about to let FG die but if I had to choose between FG and my house I am afraid my house has to win.

By paying a deposit it spreads the cost of the event so it can help the players as well so We have no problem paying a deposit :)
