Title: Bearer of bad tidings

Sir Niall ap Trahern - April 18, 2006 11:02 PM (GMT)
A tall figure with commanding bearing enters the guard house and approaches the guard on duty. His appears somewhat fatigued and his studded leather armour bears the scars of a recent battle. He carries a blue shield bearing a four pointed star of black and white. His weapons are secured in scabards at his waist. He carries a long thin object wrapped in some form of heraldic tabard.

When he speaks it is with regret,

"I am Sir Niall ap Trahern of the Kngihts of the Code and I have bad tidings. Duty guard I need to report that one of your officers has fallen, it is with regret that I must inform the Guard that Sir Brock Yates has fallen during battle."

He unwraps a sword from the tabard and places it on the duty guards desk.

"I return his sword, the Sword of the King."

Sgt Tellos - April 20, 2006 08:43 PM (GMT)
<enters the guard house and approaches the desk>

<to Sir Niall>

Excuse me, Ihave an urgent message.

<To Bodger>

Hello Bodger, got some bad news I'm afraid. Captain Yates is dead.

He was killed whilst on his latest mission to find the lost king.

<notices his sword on the desk>

Where did you get that sword?? :angry:

<looks at Sir Niall angrily>

Daniel - April 20, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
*Sitting in a corner*

He's brought it back Tellos...

*sighs* It's not like Sir Brock will be needing it anymore...

Sgt Tellos - April 20, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
Why bring it back here?

<Turns to Sir Niall>

If I was you I'd find a member of the Shield of Lars and return it to them as it belongs to that order, not the Guard in general.

How did you come to be in possession of this sword?

Sir Niall ap Trahern - April 20, 2006 11:04 PM (GMT)
The Knight turns his head slowly and regards the private sternly before speaking in controlled tones,

"As we have not be correctly introduced I will identify myself as ettiquette and protocol dictate. I am Sir Niall ap Trahern of the Knights of the Code. Before I answer I would suggest, private, that you aim your anger at those who warrant it.
I came to inform the Guard that your Captain had fallen in battle. Sir Brock was a friend and comrade of the Knights and as such his sword needs to be returned, for it is not ours to keep. Sir Brock was of the guard which is why his sword was brought here in the first instance. Direct me to a member of the Sheild of Lars and I will return it, if it is within my capabilities. I possess the sword as the Knights made a promise to return it to the appropriate parties, which evidently it appears are not the guard I now speak to. Who must I seek out to ensure Sir Brock's sword is treated with the correct regard?"

Sir Niall awaits the guardsmen reply while he carefully wraps the sword back in the heraldic tabard.

Sgt Tellos - April 21, 2006 06:26 PM (GMT)
Please forgive my lack of manners Sir Niall. My name is Tellos, Squire to Lord Malnear and currently a Private in Company P, member of the Warriors of Light.

It has been a bit of shock finding out about Captain Yates death. Add to that the fact I find a stranger with the sword that he carried.

I personally do not know any other members of the Shield of Lars, according to Captain Yates, something was hunting his men. There may not be any of them left alive.

If that is the case, I would suggest finding someone who is willing to take on his quest to find the lost king.

Sir Niall ap Trahern - April 22, 2006 11:56 AM (GMT)
"There is nothing to forgive, it is understandable that you feel grief for the loss of a colleague. In the circumstances the Knights will ensure the safety of the blade until such time as a suitable bearer can be found. If you will excuse me I shall retire and speak with my brethren on the subject.
I suspect that we will meet again Tellos. Until that time stay safe and carry a sharp blade."

The Knight departs from the guard house carrying the package.

Sgt Tellos - April 23, 2006 06:42 PM (GMT)
If I may be of service then just ask, I have fought alongside members of your order before and know them to be honourable.

<leaves and heads for the Inn>
