The Atlanta Falcons are awaiting the recommendations of an outside consulting firm before finalizing pricing on season tickets for the 2007 season.
In a radio interview earlier this week, team owner Arthur Blank said an increase would be forthcoming to bring the Falcons' ticket prices more in line with the NFL average, which was the same reasoning he has used over the past few years when ticket prices were raised.
Though not denying ticket prices would increase, vice president of football communication Reggie Roberts said data was still being obtained from the consultant and once all research is complete, team officials would determine pricing. Season ticket holders would then be notified of changes through a letter sent by the team next month, Roberts said.
With an average ticket price of roughly $60, the Falcons were slightly below the NFL average of $62 in 2006 after increasing ticket prices roughly $5 to $10 per seat depending on season location for each of the team's 10 home games (two preseason games) at the Georgia Dome.
It was not disclosed if the Falcons' upcoming price adjustment would be based off last season's NFL ticket pricing or the projected league average for next season.
Most NFL teams raised ticket prices last season, according to Team Marketing Report. The Falcons average ticket price ranked 19th out of the 32-team league. The New England Patriots have the highest average ticket price of $90 per game. The Buffalo Bills have the lowest average ticket price, $40.
The Falcons are among the lowest revenue generating teams in the NFL. However, they have one of the highest player payrolls — more than $100 million — and they are responsible for paying coaches from the recently fired regime of head coach Jim Mora and the newly hired staff of head coach Bobby Petrino.
