Falcons add two to thin backfield
The Atlanta Falcons signed two running backs, seventh-round pick Jason Snelling and free agent Sha-Ron Edwards. Snelling, a 5-foot-11, 232-pound back out of Virginia, signed a four-year deal. Edwards, a former Illinois State player, recently played for Frankfurt in NFL Europa.
Commentary: The Falcons need depth behind tailbacks Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood and fullback Ovie Mughelli. That being said, Edwards faces an uphill battle just to make the team and Snelling will need to excel on special teams in order to make an impression on the coaching staff.
Fantasy Football impact: The fantasy backs on this team are still Dunn and Norwood, who should catch a lot more passes in new coach Bobby Petrino's offense.
