Title: DLee...
Description: Staying or going?

With the FA period coming up I look for some minor changes in the composition of the roster. The biggest one will be DLee. While he's got major temper control issues his talent is huge. He's too good to remain on the Force as the #3 WR. He's not satisfied to be the #3 on a great team. He wants to be the #1 even if he's only a moderatley good #2. He'll make a good #2 for someone but not us with C&T as the #1 &#2 WR's. We already have two guys who can perform as a good #3 with C&T in there.

But that presents a whole new dilema for us. With DLee going to greener pastures we already have a couple of guys who can do a good job as #3 but what happens if Chris or Troy get dinged up and have to sit out? I don't think anyone in our stable can step it up to that level as the #2. Only DLee could. This will be one of our biggest issues is finding another really good #3 that can play as a good #2 when needed.

With that being said, if Chris or Troy get lured away then we have to keep DLee. There is no other option at that point.

While we're at it I thought I'd quantify the subtle differences in my definitions of what a "good" player is versus a "great" player versus... These are my intial thoughts:
Player Ratings
1 - Excellent: Top Tier Player, causes oppenents nightmares, All Arena First or Second Team
2 - Great: Just lacking knockout punch but always excels
3 - Very Good: Stand up player, shines quite often
4 - Good: Plays position without hurting team and occasionally stands out.
5 - Fair: While not bad is not good. Has handful of weaknesses
6 - Poor: Never shines and quite often penalizes own team with performance
7 - Stinks: Gives the oppenent an additional two players just by being on the field

With that said DLee at position:
#1 WR - Rating: 4 - Good
#2 WR - Rating: 3 - Very Good
#3 WR - Rating: 2 - Great

Has CJ signed or is he coming back??? Any word from the FO?

IF CJ leaves, then DLee is a must keep.

Word is he's more likely to stay now that Grazi is staying at Phili. Odds are if Grazi had gone to Ari then Ari would've been after CJ since he and Grazi are old pals and Ari is CJ's home town.

I don't think that losing D-Lee would be that big.

The level of importance at WR is....

1.Bergeron
2.Jackson
3.Lee

With 1,2 & 3 in place we go to the AB in 2005

Without # 1 in place we go 8-8 in 2006

With 1,2, & 3 in place in 2007, we reach the conference championship game, but fail to advance with only 2 & 3.

# 1 flat out intimidates other defenses and causes changes in schemes.

# 2 creates things and is generally money in the bank when the ball is in his neighborhood.

# 3 is an above average third option when 1 & 2 are there to take the defensive pressure away from him. He has some great moments, but not the consistency to be the #1 or 2 offensive cornerstone. He is or will be too expensive to keep as a third option and appears to be growing disatisfied with that role, which will limit his effectiveness in it. There are options already on the team for this role or we look at what is available via free agency.

Heck, since we are back at the Gwin, let's put he Mini back out front.....at WR......Markeith Coooooooooooooooooper!!!!
