Title: Inside the 5 yard line

emmitt pharr - March 4, 2008 02:45 PM (GMT)
What is everyones thoughts on running the ball 3 out of 4 plays inside the 5 yard line.I mean first 2 plays we run then we try a pass on third. On fourth and 4 we try to run again I think that was totally stupid. We weren't blocking good enough to run the ball in.Maybe we don't trust the passing game in close.

I agree 100%, Emmitt.

Real questionable play calling in that situation, of course Greisen was off and the last thing we needed was an interception. I guess running the ball prevents a turnover.

Questionable in that we do not have a great running FB in traffic. Nor a good run blocking OL.

You are right Mr Trans we really didn't have good blocking in any of the game.

Blocking could've been better but give some cedit back to the Dallas D. They still have a potent line.

With Marshall back this week I'm hoping we can bring back more of the "trick play" threat in the red zone like we had with Hillery last year.

When you get inside the 5, you give the ball to Alstott - wait he retired. OK, give it to Refrigerator Perry, wait - he's gone too.

Why in the world would they call the plays they did - this ARENA BABY!!!! Sling it!

To be an arenabowl champ you have to be able to run inside the 5 when the other team knows you are going to run. You have to have a "brusier" who goes forward and runs someone over not dances around. That is one reason some of us on this forum page was hoping that Dan Curran was coming back but he went to the great Northwest and the NFL.

Yes, this is the AFL where you sling it all around but there are times where you need to be able to run the ball.
