I know he's not going to be able to play this year, but if you could find the money to sign him to a multi-year deal for minimum this year, then more later, so he can get the medical attention he needs now, that might be worth looking into.

Probably not practical, but it's a thought. As I recall Detroit did something similar with Kubiak when he hurt his neck in Dallas, knowing he couldn't play that year.
