Title: Plank in uncharted territory

IF Fan - March 13, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
In 2008, Doug Plank has garnered the rather dubious distinction of becoming the first coach in Georgia Force history to start a season at 0-2 and could be the first to go 0-3 after three games. On the flip side, he is also the only coach with a 2-0 start after two games, as well as 3-0.

Robert Lyles was 1-1 after two in his only Force campaign and Marty Lowe was 1-1 in both of his season starts. Lyles moved to 1-2 after 3 games, while Lowe went to 2-1 and 1-2 after three.

Plank's starts have been a mixed bag of 1-1, 1-1, 2-0 and 0-2, moving to 2-1, 1-2, 3-0 and ?-? after 3 games.

Would an 0-3 start place Plank's job security in the danger zone?

Absolutely not! If anything changes will be made in the "lower ranks" of staff first. If we have another low scoring offensive output me thinks an OC could be at risk.

Hmmm......technically the OC is Plank's boss, so all I am saying is....in the coaching scheme he is under Plank, but in the overall scheme, on paper at least he is over Plank....which means......who would really take the fall?

Fair enough then. Plank before new OC: three winning seasons, two division championships, one conference championship. Plank during new OC: 0-2 and D hasn't been horrible while O has been. I'm guessing we're going 0-3 and the D will perform adequately again while the O chokes once again. Anyone see a trend here? I'll be looking at offensive play calling a lot closer this Sat night.

Purely conjecture, but I don't think Kubiak could fire Plank if he wanted to.

Since his official title is "Director of Football Operations" I would tend to disagree.........

Now in the event we are 0-3 at the end of the evening tomorrow night, I expect things to get a whole lot nastier at the Branch. Only difference, little is leaking out at this point and everything is too quiet, however, that is subject to change and rather quickly................

I ain't saying I'm just saying.........

As far as the Defense goes, yeah they showed up in both games, but with the horses we have and the new rules, no one should be scoring over 40. Period. Not to mention we lead the league in stops last year.

TB scored 69 on 189 yards total offense???? iy88767

Something tells me Plank has a distraction or undue pressure from somewhere.........

As the line that was run about EJ, well I could grow plenty of tomatoes and fertilize my lawn with that BS. I ain't buying that "company line spin" .

Like mrtrans said, the turmoil has begun.

My questions is, where will it end?

forcefan27 - March 15, 2008 01:51 AM (GMT)
There is no way anything happens to Plank this season...or next...or the one after that. If Plank was fired, I would lose all faith in the front office...I mean OC...I mean Planks boss...wait, I mean Planks coach...wait, this is messed up.

I agree that Kubiak could not fire Plank. We fans know what Plank can do with the correct players.

I think that if anyone would get fired it would be Kubiak. First , Who is putting the players on the team or who is letting players leave our team. Second, who is the person calling all those great offensive plays. Either way it goes back to the same person making those calls, attitude and all.

Don't misunderstand my post, by no means am I blaming or even thinking Plank is the problem. My comments were based on the perception that due to "title" Kubiak could take action against Plank.

But regardless, I do AGREE that Kubiak is possibly the problem, or a great source of most of the problems and IF action were taken, that would be the first area to address.

Like I said, "Something tells me Plank has a distraction or undue pressure from somewhere"

Eliminate that problem and Plank's job just became a whole lot easier.

Guy's and girls, you will have to listen to this weeks press conference for Coach Planks answer to that same question.

A great writer asked him what did he do different this week since he has never been 0 - 2 before.

AGAIN MUST LISTEN TO -- I still have not stopped ROTFL.
