Title: Condi's being considered for the #2 Slot. Alright.
Description: She's a #1 imo, and How abt JC Watts?

snake - April 7, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
IMO Condi Rice has the intelligence, the thoughtfulness and the credentials to be a fine #2 or #1, POTUS. She has come from the school of hard luck, Unlike OBAMA, and she's faced the Actual firing lines in terms to race relations and the Civil Rights community. She grew up facing fire, actual fire, unlike Hillary and as a Black Woman, she is as intelligent and moving of a person that I can find in Politics.

Her being Conservative of course, refutes in many eyes, all that I just said in the Leftist Black victumhood playbook that I see way too much of. As a Villian in Rev. Wrights book, Al and Jessie's book, that makes her beholden somehow to White america. She's a sellout according to many in the black community because she doesn't cry racism, affirmitive action and Down with White power, like so many in the NAACP crowd. I'm sure Julian Bond would rather spit on her then hear her, like Clarence Thomas, Thomas Soul and many of the other Bright stars in the conservative community. Heck, JC Watts is another in my small pool of VP candidates I would lean too. JC is way out in front of Obama and the other hucksters on the left, but Again, he gets overlooked for Positive comment, alike Rice.

This is too bad. But, Mccain choosing Rice or Watts would be along the lines of the modern conservative movement, and thats too INCLUDE everyone, not just talk abt it.

Saw McCain give a bland ass answer when they asked if she is a possible running mate. I don't see it happening.

Steve_Bartkowski - April 7, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
Condi is a smart woman and is very competent. I would definitely support her for president or vice president but strategically it may not be the best move for McCain...

1. She is too close to the unpopular Bush administration.

2. She's not going to help with the black vote against Obama... For some reason most black folks vote for Democrats for reasons I don't understand...

3. She may help offset *some* of the female vote against Hillary but Hillary probably won't make it to the general election.

4. I have heard she was pro-choice which may not go over well with a lot of conservatives. McCain needs to court the conservative vote, not distance himself from it.

Probably right Steve, but I sure like her.

McCain needs to distance himself from Bush's failed war policy and the low approval ratings of the Bush administration, so he's going to choose a high level Bush cabinet member who is known for her role in the Iraq War.

Brilliant!

That was actually my first point.

What do you know, we finally agreed on something...

The veep choice that would make me actually worry that McCain has a shot would be Colin Powell. African American, moderate, made the case for the war but was critical, especially in how it was handled...

Thankfully, Powell isn't a party man and he wouldn't accept the position.

Might as well put 2 democrats on the ticket.

Not a bad idea during an election where Republicans aren't popular. ;)

I hope she accepts. That will all but insure a Democratic victory in November no matter who the nominee is. (Hopefully Obama!) 7urjj

Ahhh hell, the Mods gotta have something to do around here, gets kind of boring sometimes. Besides, we can move them faster than he can post 'em. :P

Seriously though, back to the topic.

What's up with Alan Keyes now days? And would he be a viable choice as a running mate?

iy88767, Keyes is to conservative for McCann.

Maybe a Paul/Keyes or Barr/Keyes on the Libertarian ticket.

Why would he be thinking he needs to do that?
He thinks, he has all the conservatives in the bag as they have nowhere else to turn.
His goal is to sway the moderates. 6767h

Alan Keyes is WAY too theocratic for a libertarian ticket.

And he's way too extremist for the GOP.

McCain doesn't have conservatives in the bag... He needs to energize conservatives to win...

I love Keyes but McCain would never pick him.

PSSSTTT: It doesn't have to be a black person.

And I say this NOT because I don't want to see a black person on the ticket (all of the people listed here would be fine choices, as would J.C. Watts), but because it would be BLATENT pandering and would make the Republicans look kind of "me, too...."

IOW, I think it would actually be a poor choice on McCain's part.

I'd go with Lindsay Graham, personally, but there are a lot of good choices out there. If he decides he wants an African American on the ticket, Condi would by far be the best choice, because she has some insulation from the "he just picked you because you're black" thing. She's a woman, and the Democrats would be a lot more hesitant to attack her.

Sad, but true. Pandering sucks.

Ya I don't think picking a black VP is going to help with the black vote... Too many black folks are set in their ways of voting for a Dem.

Oh Swan, are really all that concerned that I put a topic in the wrong slot, or do you just like to cry over every post I make? Seriously, add something to the conversation more than pizz and vinegar.
