Title: Mac

Flight58 - April 10, 2008 12:21 PM (GMT)
My first time on a mac. The graphics lab has a side with all PCs and a side with nice and shiney Macs. I come in today to do my Quark assignments and thought I'd see what the big deal about macs is.

Looks nice, that ###### mouse sucks balls. still haven't figured everything out yet. Looks cool, seems to react faster.

Yea?

I've only ever played around on a Mac, never used one for my day in day out computer use. But every time I've used one it worked perfectly and did seem faster at everything that a PC.

They've got a commercial now telling how a Mac will run MS Office, which is the main MS product I use. If it will run AutoCAD, I may look into a Mac for my next computer.

Are they still super expensive compared to a PC?

I don't know about prices. The one I was using had MS Office programs installed

Comparatively they are more expensive, but the numbers can be deceiving. A Mac with lesser specs will often outperform their PC counterparts, although this is changing some with the implementation of Intel chips.

I was a PCer all the way until my current job, which is all Mac. I am now a Mac enthusiast. I just love the way everything is organized, how simple most things are. And it may not be important, but they are just so aesthetically pleasing. The G-5s with their badazz metallic cases, so f'in solid.

The new laptops are also killer. I love how you just open it, hit the space button and BAM, you're up and running.

And Mac has been running Office for awhile now, though it's becoming more efficient with the Intel chips.

I liked how photoshop's backround is the desktop. Looks like your desktop with PS canvas, pallets, and menus.

That's Hot

I'd rather masturbate with sandpaper than do anything with a Mac.

I hated suporting them too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not prasinging Microshaft either. Just despise Mac

Do you think they have a bad product, or do you just not like the company?

parts of Both actually.

I don't see myself getting a Mac because all my software is PC and the software is either too new and/or too expensive to replace. If I didn't have software issues. I'd get a mac.

It's my understanding that the Intel based Mac's will run Windows and all Windows related apps. Both Windows and OS X can be installed and you choose which OS to boot into or run them both together. Wild shit........ I think they're running XP Service Pack 4 now.

http://www.apple.com/getamac/windows.html

Microsoft Office "Mac" 2008 was recently released for OS X v10.5.

I've heard some people are running AutoCad with some sort of "translator" program. Not sure exactly what it is though. May be worth the call to verify. But IF the Mac has windoze, no need for the translator......

The Mac is a little pricer, but buck for buck it will kick a PC's ass royally. On the graphics side a PC can't touch a Mac. That's why their #1 in Hollywood.

I know a guy with a mac,..well..did..he's dead now. He loved it & swore he's never go back to a PC. I myself hate change, so I'll stick with a PC. Hell, I had to buy a new PC last year and it took me forever to find one with windows xp still on it. I tried Vista once...ONCE and swore I'd give up the interwebs before I'd ever use Vista again. If my only option was Vista, I'd go mac or just give it the fuck up.

I feel ya. I know a guy that bought a used Honda awhile back. Five years later, BAM, died from cancer.

The guy I know/knew was in a band with me, he came home from work one day, was changing out of his work clothes and just dropped down dead. Heart attack. His 12 year old daughter was home alone with him and found him.
