Stoops Says Kelly Criticism Not Fair
NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops said criticism by former receiver Malcolm Kelly isn't fair.
LinkageAfter a workout for NFL scouts Kelly criticized the OU coaching staff and said a thigh injury he suffered in December was misdiagnosed as a deep bruise instead of a partial tear of his quadriceps.
Kelly was also unhappy he ran the 40-yard dash on field turf instead of on Astroturf.
He ran a disappointing 4.68 40-yard dash but says he's run 4.5 and faster on the Astroturf.
Kelly and OU strength coach Jerry Schmidt had a heated argument after the workout.
Schmidt said both the center where the field turf is located and the one with Astroturf were ready but the NFL scouts wanted the workouts held on the field turf.
