NFL legend Herschel Walker Runs Olympic Torch, Speaks on Controversy

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Herschel Walker was known for running through opposing defenses, but this week he was charged with running through groups of protesters. Well, not really. Walker was chosen to carry the Olympic torch in San Francisco on Wednesday, but the route of the torch was changed so many times, that they pretty much avoided most of the mobs.

"There were some families who went out to watch their family member run, and then the route got changed, and they didn't get to see them," Walker told USA Today's Game On! "There were some kids who were let out of school to watch, and then they never got to see it."

Walker also shared that he thinks politicians should stay out of sports and look at the bigger picture.

"I think it's wrong for politicians to get involved in things like this," Walker said. "Why aren't they talking about quitting taking all the products from China, and putting people to work here. Do you think not going to the opening ceremonies is going to change anything?"

In actuality, nonprofit organizations are doing more of the protesting than actual politicians, but Walker does make a good point. Why don't we boycott products "Made in China"?

For ages I've been saying not to buy (if possible) goods from China.

Now Walker get the credit. I'm surprised they make it sound like a new thing.

I ###### hate China. Chinese goods are cheap peices of junk.

Only good thing out of china is chinese food and chinese movies

Plus I would have loved to have seen one of those San Fransisco hippies try to take down Herschel and take the torch from him. He may be in his mid 40's but he still looks like he could suit up and run for 125.
