I heard a report from Mort. that the Rams are going to draft Chris Long?
If true? We have our choice of Ryan or Dorsey.
The general consensus among Falcons talkers is..We select Dorsey as I pointed out and predicted yesterday.
I be damn happy with that.

Any ideas on how many starters we hope to pick up in this draft?
I say, we do damn well to land 3 or 4.
Maybe 2 on defence and 1 or 2 on offence?

The St. Louis Rams will select Virginia defensive end Chris Long with the second pick of the draft if they are not blown away by a trade offer, team sources told FOXSports.com.

Also, Falcons sources said that they will select Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan in the No. 3 spot. Injury concerns with Glenn Dorsey turned Atlanta away from the LSU defensive tackle.

It appears the top three picks are locked in, provided no trades occur. Several teams, though, are looking to make deals.

FOXSports.com has also learned the New Orleans Saints have been in talks with the Raiders and Chiefs among others to trade up in an effort to land Dorsey. They are not offering a player, only draft picks to make the move.

The Jets, who had Chris Long as their top-rated player, now have their sights on Darren McFadden, if he's still on the board at No. 6. And the Chiefs, who also had Chris Long as their selection, are now looking to move out of the No. 5 spot.

Not so fast Batman.

From what I have heard the injury issues on Dorsey are non issues?
I still think he would have more certian positive impact the fastest.

With Chris Long going to the Rams, that sets up an interesting question for the Falcons. The urgency to select a franchise quarterback when there is a void at the position rises heavily before the draft. Atlanta will be challenged to not take him. The only option aside from taking Ryan is to select Glenn Dorsey with the third pick. If they do that, look for them to package many of their other choices and get back into the end of the first round for Brian Brohm or Chad Henne. The wild card in Atlanta is that owner Arthur Blank figures to be heavily involved so he could tilt the decision towards Ryan.

I doubt anyone in their right mind expected that he would. We could have snagged Dorsey and then combined a bunch of other picks to trade into a high enough spot to grab one of the other QB's after Ryan was off the board.

I don't think Ryan is a bad QB and I think (hope) he'll do well. But he's not a better player than Dorsey and he won't contribute to the team like Dorsey would have. I think it was a bad choice.

Only a bad choice in the sense that there were better choices on the board. That are now apparently KC Chiefs.
