Hawkeyes, Cyclones sign free-agent deals
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Three Iowa football players and four from Iowa State have signed free agent contracts after not being chosen in the NFL draft.
Iowa running backs Albert Young and Tom Busch have signed deals with Minnesota, while Hawkeyes defensive end Bryan Mattison signed with the Jets.
Iowa State wide receiver Todd Blythe signed a contract with New Orleans and quarterback Bret Meyer signed with Washington. Iowa State linebacker Jon Banks signed with Buffalo and tight end Ben Barkeme is going to Cleveland.
The players signed free agent contracts after not being chosen in the draft, held on Saturday and Sunday.
Several players from the state were selected in the draft on Sunday.
Three Hawkeyes, two Cyclones and two players from Northern Iowa were drafted in the third through seventh rounds.
