Are any of you on Facebook? I need some friends :( Clean friends if you know what I mean. I'm trying this out to see if I want to let my daughter use it so I don't want all the dirty videos and creepy weird stuff.
So ... I guess that was a dumb question to this crowd huh?
j/k
You know I love you guys.

Not me, sorry. I don't do any of that stuff. Seems way too complicated.

Not knowing the age of your child, I wouldn't give her a facebook or myspace page without teaching her about some of the things that she could and will encounter. My 10 year old does nothing more than taking test or keeping up with her webkinz. The elder at 17 I give freedom with the knowlegde of porn will kill a computer or atleast mine.
I do feel children need to know thier way around a computer,as it will be a part of their future, I stress the importantance of keeping a clean mind.

That's why I started a page...and it's kinda fun...but I want to make sure nothing bad gets in. I discovered bumper stickers - i think they're fun but there are some nasty ones on there. I'll work with it to see if it can be filtered.
Thanks for the advice - we parents need to stick together.

CindyMac, I'm on Facebook. It's much milder than MySpace, if that helps at all. I know you have the option to delete anything someone else puts on your page, but you probably want to filter it before that point.
You can make your own page, add your daughter as a friend, and adjust her settings to notify you each time anyone or anything is posted to her profile. You can also go into her profile settings (I think it's Privacy, then Search) and control what other people see when they search for her. Or you could use your email address as the login, instead of hers.
I know there are certain things Facebook won't allow. One of my girlfriends is a PR manager for a beverage company and Facebook told her to remove her bulletins regarding promos (Jager/Bud Girl type stuff, nothing too risque). And I don't believe the girls are allowed to have profiles for their groups (they are allowed on myspace).
Let me know if I can help you with anything. :)
