Title: Iowa what cha got for grilled onions?
Description: 2 weeks of ham samiches, and I'm looking

Ty Down - July 4, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
I'm grilling steaks tomorrow and I want to grill a couple onions.
The way I've been doing it is
peel onion and semi cut into 8 sections
wrap with foil and add a dab of butter onto cut sections
season with wtf ever seal foil
cook for " I usually cook for 30 min"

You got any suggestions a primate could use?

It's also my wedding anniversary so I'm trying make Terri Down (my wife) extremely happy!

Grilled Onions

1 vidalia onion (medium or large)
1 teaspoon butter, to taste
1 chicken bouillon cube or
beef bouillon cube
aluminum foil

1. Slice the ends off the onion and peel the outer skin off.
2. Place the onion on the aluminum foil.
3. (You could spray it first with nonstick spray.) With a sharp paring knife, scoop out some of the onion in the center to make an indentation.
4. Place the butter in the hollowed out area.
5. Then place the boullion cube in the butter.
6. Wrap the onion up in the foil, sealing it tightly and place on a medium to low temperature grill and cook 30 to 40 minutes.
7. The onion is done when it feels soft to the touch.

4. Set onions in the pan on their roots.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about.
With the (Balsamic Onions) do you just put them on the grill with no tray or foil?
I hate to be bothersome but these sound really good.

Iowahorse - July 4, 2008 05:11 AM (GMT)
You can do them either way, but I prefer foil, you just have to be a bit more careful without.

Thanks, and a happy 4th to you.

I grilled two onions
one with the chicken bullion and one with the beef bullion. Both were great. The chicken bullion taste better imo. I had to cook these onions an extra 20 min because they were big. I also grilled the 2 cause I started drinkin a little early and was too lazy to cook them any other way.

I wanted to try the Balsamic Onions and the the Grilled Stuffed Onions. But that'll be next weekend after we come back from vacation.

Mrs. Down loved the grilled onions and is begging for more. You sir have made me look like a saint and I'm deeply greatful for your service.
