Title: Well guys, we got our asses handed to us

Doc_2957 - July 8, 2008 11:56 PM (GMT)
at the hands of a mindless OC and a lack of any worthwhile DB's.

Sloppy defense, too many stupid mistakes and not enough Offense to win a shoot out.

Having said that and our season being over, Good luck and best wishes to Cleveland. Pound the hell out of Philly, AGAIN and take it all.

Can someone tell me what "INTENTIONAL PASS INTERFERENCE" is and where it can be found in the rule book?

and btw, Tiller had FULL possession of that interception when his knees hit the ground. The simultaneous possession occurred on the ground. Play should have been dead at that point. Ask Emmitt.........

Sorry Doc, but losing by three points in my book is not getting our *ss handed to us. That is what New York did to Dallas.

You are correct about the OC and iy88767 play calling he was doing in the last minute of the game.

Changing DB's looked like a mistake that Coach will have to live with in the off season but again we lost by 3.

My family was just having this conversation, in the thunderstorm that just past our house. The parents were saying the same think you are but the college kids keep saying "We lost by 3 points" even with officials help. The last minute of the game was why we loss.

Our team played the same way in the winning streak but this week could not find that same magic this game to win it. Could it have been the bye week, where the players got to go home for the week?

To your question on "INTENTIONAL PASS INTERFERENCE" it has been in the books for a few years now. However, they call it once in a blue moon call it. It was put in the books (largely) becuase of what the Force did on defense a few years back. Where our Coaches told the DB's if you are getting burnt, just grab to receiver and we will take the 10 penatly. So in this case, as the Back Judge told Andy Kelly, he thought (be mistake) that our DB was burnt and just grabbed the receiver so he used the rule. I saw it and I saw he mark the stop and I could not believe that you don't use it during the regular season but he pulls it out of his *ss in the playoffs.

I really think that question that I need to find the answer to is:

When does a field goal attempt look like a PUNT?
I understand why they were giving the ball since it did go 10 yards and touched the ground but it did not look like a field goall attempt, it looked like a punt which is not allowed in the AFL.

The punt play was accually a drop kick and drop kicks are allowed in the league.

On a drop kick doesn't the ball have to hit the ground before being kicked? It should did not look like a drop kick to me. But I was behind the defense so I can't be sure it did not hit the ground first.

From my angle, it was a clean drop kick. It hit field before his foot kicked it. On some of the other message boards, people said the roll out formation should be illegal, but it is patterned after some years ago drop kicks in the outdoor game, where the kicker moved away from the line because the kick is usually a lower trajectory. Partlow ran the same formation at Austin, so Plank/Krony should have been aware of the formation and had some coverage shift for it. Instead of a week off, maybe they should have watched more film and worked on X's and O's. Not a great effort at aiming for the crossbar, but follows the letter of the rule by being a forward kick.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. 678hnn77

It definitely hit the ground but I've never seen such a b.s. attempt at one. That was purposely designed to be recovered if not push back the starting point if we recovered it. Something to think about next year and take advantage of. Kind of like the way Doug took advantage of the rule about jamming the in-motion receiver.

In all fairness guys, I thought the Force played a helluva game...you had a new OC this season and that usually requires an adjustment period. I know expectations were high for this team at the beginning of the season, but from what I saw of your season, you overcame a horrible start, finished the regular season strong, and simply caught a bad break during a close game...I fully expect the Force to rebound well next season... :)

With NO disrespect Ton, even though the score didn't reflect it, the Force played one of the most horrific games of the season. Plagued by penalties on the Defense and a lack of play calling, combined with no focus reminded me of the game we played last year against a wild card team called Columbus.

We started camp 3 weeks after the rest of the league and it showed at the beginning of the season. Combine that with the fact Plank gave everyone a week off and I've been told they only practiced 2 full days, maybe 3 at the most prior to the game.

That's what cost us the Championship.

Then the Head Coach wants to throw the players under the bus???????????

Maybe his ass should be fired and Kronnie should be kept instead.

That's OK though, I'll still hang in there for next year just to see what happens.

But I can say this without reservation. I gave the Falcons about 20 some odd years before I said screw those clowns, I won't do the same with the Force.

OK, what did I miss?

OK, what did I miss?

It was in an article from the Gwinnett Post or Daily News.

Plank's remarks;

QUOTE
"There are a lot of thoughts out there, I have heard a few of them the last few minutes, of why we didn't play better," Plank said. "I don't think it had anything to do with the bye week or the week off. Ultimately these games come down to your players on the field and how your players match up with their players and who is making plays."

Play calling was pathetic, prep was pathetic, lack of focus, and failure to manage the clock and it's the players fault?

As Iffy said, "If Plank had been paying attention, he would have known that Cleveland's OC, ran the drop kick play more than once when he was the head coach at Austin."

Come on Doc...

Being a fan of a team means taking the bad with the good.

I truly respect fans of teams that never win anything, like the Cleveland Browns....their theam has sucked...sucked some more...moved to a different city...came back as an expansion team, sucked once more...and continues to suck (though they might chance that around this year).

I am glad that I root for the Force and the Falcons. Of course I think the Force is closer to a championship than the Falcons...but either way, each team will win a championship during my lifetime  . And on that day, I will be able to say that through through it all, I was always a fan.

It's easy to second guess the coaches and front offices of the teams we root for...let's just hope they learn from the mistakes WE think they've made.
